Contributing to a dead forum??

just stop posting..lol
I've written my resignation letter.

Sorry to announce that I am not going to continue contributing to this forum. I believe it is my time to depart. Although I drop in every day, I feel that I am not getting the stimulation I need, and I find that rather depressing.

In 2025 I am reviewing my life and plan to make many changes as I go forward without Hubby. I won't be sitting at the laptop for hours on end. I plan to become more active in the community, beginning next Friday.

I still miss Joy, but we cannot go backwards in time, so I plan to forge new connections going forward.

I will probably drop in occasionally to see what the Three Musketeers are up to so don't talk about me behind my back.

As the dolphins were heard to say as they departed the Earth, just before the Bogons blew it up, "So long, and thanks for all the fish." ***

So, thanks for your company over the years.

Warri.

Just exit ...... In every instance, I never 'announced' I was going. I just stopped. No big deal.
Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It's like the "ignore button". Occasionally I give them a warning first. Sometimes I just tell them "that's it, you're gone". Other times i just do it without saying a word. It all depends upon my personal invested respect or lack of it. Friendships gone bad deserve an explanation and my expression of sadness. Numbskulls and "chip on the shoulder", intentional aggressive people, deserve nothing at all. Well ...... OK, on very rare circumstances I might slander them first. :ROFLMAO:

does the size of the forum matter?
I'm on some groups with 30,000 members, but the actual number who contribute can be very low.
maybe 50 active members.

doesn't seem to - probably more based on costant advertising revenue?

It is the only outlet I have to talk about US and Australian politics

I was a member of https://www.usmessageboard.com/ a couple of years ago. It covers politics etc worldwide and was always busy. Just highlight and copy/paste the link if You're interested

I do go back occasionally but this is out of some loyalty to those remaining I guess -not the site itself - it once was fun and vibrant but now really sort of a cenotaph to the destruction of a good little forum by its manager cos he was sorta rigid and wanted everyone to conform to his rules and regs and standards - didn't have much flexibility

I have been a member of so many forums over the years. They all ceased to exist after I left. Some I just tired of. One was dedicated to the original The Twilight Zone TV series. This one is still going thankfully.

any forum will only last as long as its owner/manager/etc - usually - but they can be 'pirated' sometimes? - I often see us few on ours as pirates on a "marie celeste"?

I have and they've all tried and said - small is a better fit?
