Watched The Film Crew riff the old movie "The Giant of Marathon." Thrill to Italian extras in diapers playing Greeks, in Smurf hats playing Persians. Watch one of the very few female characters crawl 10 miles in the dark after an arrow in the back pierced a lung. Corny dubbed dialog, neck-snapping jump cuts, comically impossible sea battles.

I'm back to normal after my bout of pneumonia, still taking the nasal spray once/day until end of the month,no more wearing mask. I'm now able to sleep through the night
On my early morning walk, knew it would be cold temp was 20 with the slight breeze felt colder. I was all bundled up,went around the building once before breakfast
My plans today, do some shredding, paperwork I never did the other day walk up/down the hallway for exercise since its now going to be any warmer today outside, read my book & this evening after dinner tackle today's NYT crossword puzzle

Morning folks!!! Up at 4am for unknown reason, but that is how it goes some days....feel okay, but can't shake the crick in my
right side neck, very stubborn pain there....it is 11deg out now,
not gonna raise very much....catch you later!!! ;):coffee::love:
Make the best of a cold early morning. Cocoa instead of coffee, call a friend.
Voltaren has been my buddy for muscle pain going back to my teenage days.

I woke up crabby.....think I'll nurture it and let it grow.

Other than that, probably no plans. My Mom wants to go to Wal-Mart, but I don't think my road is safe yet. We might have to wait until tomorrow. After breakfast, I'll walk up to the road and check it.

Right now, I'm not really awake yet, waiting for the

to kick in.

We are predicted to reach a sunny 47°F/8.3°C, today. That should go a long way in melting the snow!

I got a voice mail from the consultant's secretary at the London hospital today, and the transcript comes up first before listening to the message.. and it started off with gobbledy gook....it said '' Hospitals , I can spell hospitals '' then at the end it left a phone number which didn't even exist asking me to call back ..I finally after jumping through hoops, reached the woman who left the message

After I spoke to her about appointments

I explained to her what the transcript said, thinking she might like to know...... and she snapped ''well are you hard of hearing couldn't you hear the voice mail''?..I said I'm not hard of hearing, but the transcript comes up first and it's confusing, and not only that, the phone number was wrong... and people who do have a hearing problem will be unable to understand or return the call..

She was extremely irritated... jeez!

Well I m at the spine surgeons. Waiting to be seen. This is a big one. I will find out if I have Trigeminal neuralgia. My future is hanging in the balance. Very soon we'll know.

Good luck.... I have been treated for Tn in my jaw on and off since I was in my early 20's... the pain is excrutiating, and like no other pain.... i can't imagine how bad it must be in your spine...

I remember when i was first diagnosed,..and it took a long time to be diagnosed back then ... but the consultant said to me, if you had this pain in any other part of your body you could cope..but because it's next to the brain it's very hard to deal with...

Well..he may be right, but I certainly wouldn't like to deal with it in my spine, so I wish you luck and hoping that it's not TN...

Cradling a warm cup of herbal tea in my hands (and sipping it slowly)... been out to run errands and a trip to the library.

Working on cleaning the refrigerator 1/2 a shelf at a time so I don't have to empty it out and lean over for extended period to scrub shelves; much easier on my back.

After lunch, visit Ed, groceries and a staff meeting (brief, hopefully!) at work

Tomorrow will be the day the new heat pump is installed--waiting on the tech to get back from lunch to let me know that it all came in and it's still a go.

Y'all take care...

So sorry Jet.
What??? Nine hours for an ambulance? OMG
How is she now? 🌹

OMG.

The "American Association of Retired Persons" Bulletin has as its latest cover story "Where have all the doctors gone?" https://www.aarp.org/publications/bulletins/aarp-bulletin-january-february-2025 The article describes a worrying scenario.

Apparently, the non-profit Kaiser Healthcare System www.kp.org does not have to squeeze sick people and their own physicians to satisfy monetary demands by the company's shareholders. In my experience, Kaiser Physicians are plentiful, they are satisfied with their working conditions, and I am satisfied with the system, having been uninterrupted a member since 1970.

Over the years, management asked me repeatedly to evaluate physicians who treated me. It takes only a few minutes to switch to a different PCP, and I can communicate with physicians not only in person, but also by telephone, video conferencing, texting, and email that I am using frequently. Physicians are obligated to respond within two days. And no paperwork. Everything is handled internally within the system. The facilities are modern, pleasant, and decorated with plenty of works of art. If I am not mistaken, Kaiser Permanente originated during WWII at the Kaiser Steel Mills in SoCal, taking care of their employees.

Just one example: The 1 1/2 inch splinter in my hand got infected, but I didn't take it seriously. When yesterday morning I started having problems with my hand, I went at 2:00 PM to Kaiser's Urgent Care without an appointment. Only a few people were waiting. Early in the afternoon is perhaps the best time to go. Well, from seeing the physician, getting an X-Ray, and Amoxicillin 875 MG from their pharmacy, and being dismissed, I was in-and-out in 1 1/2 hours. Not bad. After taking only 2 Amoxicillin, my wrist doesn’t hurt anymore.

Complaints on SF about the English National Health System reminds me of my cousin in Germany who is a children’s doctor. On our last visit, he assured me that, in order to make any money, he can spend only ten minutes with each patient. Governments seems to be just as stingy spending money for their citizens health as are for-profif healthcare companies. The American healthcare system is a mixed bag. Maybe I am just lucky to be with Kaiser Permanente. Yes, you can always find something to complain about, but basically I am quite satisfied.

I saw the spine surgeon. He examined me, my x-rays and MRI. He doesn't think I need surgery which is very good. He referred me to pain management and PT. I might need shots in my neck soon, but I am going to try to build up my neck muscles and manage the pain without using any more drugs. I am going to wait till it warms up a bit...I have to drive 40 miles round trip for PT once or twice a week. YUK! Last time it hurt twice as bad after PT than before, so I quit. He said it can be rough for awhile until I get stronger. @ all my caring friends. Thanks for the support.

I can see that so many of us are suffering from this or that. Getting older IS getting weaker ( eventually ). I am beginning to understand how much acceptance has to do with growing old gracefully. That and patience. Those are two traits that I have very little of. Half the battle is existential. :)
