Something happened to my organized thinking since last year

You now have lots of feedback, for what that is worth. If I had your concern and symptoms, I would be at my doctor's office as soon as possible. If he "poo, pooed" me. I would find a doctor that specializes, as noted above. No one will help you like a qualified doctor can.

A woman I know has the phrase, "Time to put on your 'big girl' panties." I tried, but they don't fit.
Then it’s time to go commando! 😉🤭😂

You seem to always ask for input, that you rarely choose to follow, but you always seem to come up with an acceptable solution to each and every situation that you face.

Celebrate the wins!!!

Try to focus on how fortunate you are and how successful you’ve been in dealing with everything that comes your way.

Just because your doc might recommend you take something, deb, doesn't mean you have to. Did you ever try 'talk therapy?' You can do this online now if there is no therapist you can find nearby. I love my therapist! 40 minutes twice a month. I never met her in person, we Telehealth, which is like Zoom. We have plans to actually meet, eventually.

If I go to a doctor and whine about things, she might out me on anti-depressants again.

I understand how irritating and frustrating that can be. It appears to me that it is an easy path for doctors to just put anyone on antidepressants if they don't have another condition they can 'fix'. As far as I've seen, they can't get in any trouble doing it.

There are many medical issues that have similar symptoms to depression: thyroid problems, diabetes, iron-deficiency, pernicious anemia, sleep apnea, heart problems, mono, etc etc etc.

But if you are feeling tired and large tasks are too daunting (which I can understand that making an appointment, having to wait for a bunch of test results, dealing with lazy doctors, etc is a terribly daunting task), maybe start with just baby-steps.

If your insurance includes an advice-nurse, you could try calling and see what they suggest (tho in my experience they almost always say to make an appointment to see a doctor).

Doctors seem to spend more time talking to drug sales agents than they to their patients, then push these medicines on their patients.
For sure! Here's a site that can help you see if your doctor is just a "conduit" for the drug companies.

Dollars for Docs

However, the symptoms you describe may be the early onset of Dementia. If your doctor is unwilling to address your concerns, you may want to visit another doctor.....in a larger city, such as Albany, where there may be more "specialists" in these conditions.

Some people in church today came over to me and asked if I was feeling all right. This never happened before. I look the same to myself as I have for quite some time. I said that I probably just had a case of winter blahs. One person suggested I have to get a pet or a boyfriend.

I thought I'd do some accounting of my expenses in 2024. I got out my checkbook stubs, receipts and records. It was just gobbledegook to me from the getgo. Couldn't keep things straight. I am worried about my perspicacity.
Just an FYI, I was having a lot of troubles last spring and thought for sure I was sliding into dementia. Moved from an RV park out in the boonies to an apartment in town so I’d be closer to medical care. New doctor told me to stop taking the proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that was diagnosed for GERD that I had been taking for 3 years. You are only supposed to be on it for a few weeks and it does cause cognitive decline. Luckily, been off for 7 months and feel like a new person, very sharp cognitively and have had no memory issues. Good luck. ☘️
