Is There Anything Coming Down In Price ??

Just heard on news..
1 dozen eggs @$10..oh! Yes
Researched..
Kroger (supermarket) brand eggs@$8.50/doz.
CageFree eggs @ $10/dozz
Ridiculous!!
What do you think they'll come down to?
Locally, $5 a dozen seems to be the norm, lately. A couple of years ago. $1.50 was common. We live in a rural area with lots of chicken/turkey farms, and the number of poultry trucks we see has gone down substantially....Bird Flu??

I don't see any reduction in prices....for anything...in the future. With all this talk about Tariffs, it will be the consumer who takes it in the neck. Even if these tariffs were instituted, with the goal of bringing production back to the US, it would take years before enough factories were created that would make any difference.

The thing about tariffs that crosses my mind ...
Production moved off shore because it was much cheaper than producing certain goods in the USA
The consumer will soak up tariffs ... AND ... if tariffs bring jobs and production back to the USA ... well, prices will still increase
Because ya know, it costs more to produce certain goods in the USA
Except maybe if tariffs are removed for imported raw materials ... nah, prices will still go up regardless. Shoot

Soon we will address the price of health care to treat overdoses, the costs of fighting fentanyl trafficking, pursuing criminal justice efforts, and lost productivity in the workforce, as well as the economic costs of human lives lost to overdose and the reduced value of life for overdose survivors. Once we stop that, inflation will decrease.

In 2023, 60% of U.S. crude oil imports originated in Canada, up from 33% in 2013.
The rest of the story, if you please.
After refining, some of these products are exported back to Canada. This happens because Canada has a higher demand for refined products than its domestic refining capacity can meet, especially in regions far from the main refining centers. Additionally, the type of crude oil from the oil sands requires specific refining capabilities which might not always be fully available in Canada.

So, while not all Canadian crude oil refined in the U.S. returns to Canada, a significant portion does.

9% of our petroleum exports go to Canada.

Cool. How about powder? I'm old school and use Alliant Unique. I would like to make some more reloads for the hard times that may be comimg.
Aliend is hard to find due to the factory explosion three years ago. They are getting back into production. Try Winchester 231, Hodgdon Universal. What calibers, what bullet weights?

I used to pay about $30.00 for my cats insulin vial. That would last me 3 months kept in the fridge.

I just looked up the price of a Lantus pen. If someone takes 10 units a day, it will last for some time. But some people take much higher amounts than that.

I agree with you on the greed. It's gone past money for research and a decent profit. It is greed. These drug advertisements make me want to scream.
More "trickle down" theory BS. Why not focus on reality and what is likely, rather than subjective fantasy?
I picked up two prescriptions today. The cost was $730.54.

Because those of us that are retired are dependent on the younger generations to do all the work and pay the social security taxes that support us. Buy hey, let's just let the schools go to crap so that the kids get lousy educations and end up becoming young thugs that mug us old people for drug money.

They are anyway, if I’m to believe the news.

Let’s not forget about everyone who rents, has children in those schools and don’t pay taxes to support said school. I wouldn’t complain about paying something if they were made to ante up first. I have paid taxes since I was 16, so I am pretty sure I have earned the right to complain.

Lucky you on your car insurance coming down $30....mine went up $30 on my over 20 yr old VW bug. Still waiting to hear about my homeowner's insurance.
I def will be shopping around for new quotes...
It went down significantly during COVID when no one was driving, then it skyrocketed. When I moved from South Florida where I drove 50 miles per day to Dallas where I started working from home I asked State Farm why I wasn't seeing any savings. They couldn't provide a reasonable answer, so I don't expect them to provide an answer for the decrease either. But I'll take it!

The annual inflation rate bottomed in September, 2024 at 2.4%. October saw it move up to 2.6%, November to 2.8% and December at 2.9%. I should point out the expectation would normally see these numbers rise at the beginning of every year.

In October, we were importing 4.578Mbpd from Canada and exporting 795KBbpd.
U.S. Total Crude Oil and Products Imports
Total Crude Oil and Products Exports by Destination
We are currently averaging 10.704Mbpd in total exports, so 7.4% of our exports are currently going to Canada.

Since I knew what was coming I bought a new car, chair, clothes and eyeglasses. I also bought enough paper goods, cleaning supplies and toiletries for a year. Now all I have to buy is food.
Same, I stocked up during covid.
