Glad you're feeling good enough to clean up the icky sick sweat! Do you have the flu? Type A is particularly nasty this year. It's going into bilateral pneumonia quickly and is vaccine proof. We've lost two residents this month (both vaccinated) and I have a ton of significant weight losses to deal with this week. Our 103 YO toughed through it!
Yes, that's it, Type A. Really worried about son. He thinks he could go to work tomorrow. He is so stubborn.

I bolded what I don't understand.

Thanks, Annie

So I take the flowers to my neighbour she's so delighted to get them, that she says... oooh everytime we have a BBQ( which is a lot ).. I pomise you we'll send a plate around... I was thinking fine, the food is delicious , I told her so....

Then I find I have no internet.. I think that the storm must have blown it out, but the router and everything was working fine.. so after about 2 hours of it not coming back on despite all my attempts at trying to get it working I called my internet provider..

I was on the phone with them for an hour.. caused all sorts of hassle because they couldn't get into my account to see what was wrong because I didn't know the P/W..which is the p/w my soon2Bex had set... they could see it but it was against data protection for them to tell me what it was... what a nightmare.. I'll save you the rest of the story.. but eventually I got it all back on.. but I've had to set up a new account.. to do it.. *sigh*.. but anywya in the meantime it means going forward, whenever there's a problem I have my own password now..

What as come good from it was that the customer service lady is going through a divorce just like mine almost identical actually.. so she said she could see how much he was paying for the package which she described as eye watering .. so she said, let's stick it to him, and all these men who cheat and we'll get you the best deal that's possible to get.. and she did... and that includes free landline calls anywhere.. as long as they are less that 59 minutes

Sorry your internet broke, @hollydolly but glad account now in your name with your own PW
I actually was really concerend becuase at first they were saying they couldn't get into my account yet because technically m own accont doesn't begin until 11th of feb... so on paper I don't have interent here... it's under his name.. and without his password they couldn't do anything..

I argued that regardless, he'ss still paying for it, it's all up to date so I am entitled to have the internet.. and so it went on in circles, so let's hope it doesn't go out again before it changes over to my name and I don't need his damn password..

@Pepper, since @RadishRose already provided the chicken noodle soup, I'll send along some virtual ginger ale (Schweppes--I like it best)... Take care and feel better soon...

And that goes for all you sweet folks not feeling well (@timoc +++) Here's to a spring in your step and back to your best life ASAP!

So after cleaning 1/2 the kitchen cabinets with Murphy oil soap + the front of the stove this AM, I'm now sipping apple/cinnamon tea and crackers with nut spread while I rest my back. Friends of the Library meeting today and visiting Ed. A few groceries to pick up.

Looks like rain on-and-off today... I have veggies prepped for lunch and soup already cooked for supper. Look forward to finishing my new library book today (it's a good one, I'll share in the "What do you read" thread) and maybe watching an episode of "Unforgotten" on Prime.

Had some really exciting news over the weekend.. My older daughter closed on the house she purchased and is already lining up crews to come in and paint the living area/kitchen + has the nasty carpet pulled up and getting ready to put down new LVP flooring. She had an extra blessing Saturday which I am really thanking God for... the realtor from whom she bought the house also has a sideline of buying and flipping houses in the area. He called her Saturday AM and said he'd just bought a house that was full of nice furniture and offered, "Come pick up whatever you want." So she has most basic furniture necessities provided gratis. =D

Y'all have a great day!
So happy for your daughter's good luck with the furniture...what a great surprise.

I love the smell of Murphy's Oil Soap. You almost had me start on my cabinets, but that's coming soon.

Congratulations on you girl's closing!

The bolded part is referring to work. I'm a registered dietitian and do consulting part-time for long term care facilities. (Tried a different career (librarian- MLIS) but didn't like it so went back to the first one.)

Good Monday morning, all!

Went to my GD's birthday party yesterday - great fun. It was held in a public library's large, open space meeting room - at least 1200 square feet. We set up the tables, chairs, food (taco bar), games, crafts, etc. Great price for the space: $50 for 3 hours. (1 for set up, 2 for the party.) Clean up was a breeze.

In keeping with the library theme, crafts included decorating blank bookmarks and lightweight canvas library bags to take home. The candy favors were little bags of gummy "bookworms." It was all very clever - kids and adults had a great time.

Couldn't have fire in a library building, obvs, so no candles on the cake. Then one of my DILs pulled up something on her phone that showed a lit candle - when GD blew on the screen, the candle went out! Who knew such things even existed? (Turned out nobody there except DIL!) 🤣

Fire update: The weekend rainstorm has fully (or nearly so) extinguished the Los Angeles area fires. Although the rain triggered a few isolated mudslides in recently burned areas, none are catastrophic. Some road and local schools are closed for a day or two until emergency crews sort out the problems.

It has been a very difficult few weeks for Los Angeles. I'm grateful to all here who checked on me, worried over me and other Angelenos, prayed for the fire fighters, and empathized with the people who suffered terrible losses from these wildfires.

Miserable day, cold and wet. I find this weather so depressing. I spent the morning preparing and freezing some chicken joints. We can usually get whole chicken and portion them much cheaper than buying prepared chicken joints. I've boiled the carcasses to make stock for chicken soup.

Tonight I'm cooking Scotch egg with potato and lentil salads. Not exactly seasonal, but we like them at any time of year.
Can you please explain what Scotch Egg is?

Leftover chicken turned into chicken salad with watercress on home made bread for breakfast; coffee with a cardamom pod.

Now I want to scour the kitchen sink since I now have the New faucet with the power blast and sprayer. Almost won't need the dishwasher! (almost)

Happy day, All!

Now that sounds like a great sandwich and coffee!

Basil, oregano, thyme, parsley and sage. I would like to add mint. I have a Rosemary bush.
Plant together what has similar needs. Better - give each his own pot. Basil will do great from seed. Use just a few seeds and keep the rest for a new pot three months the later. It does not mind living on a window sill. Parsley takes up to 30 days to sprout. So give it time and do not despair. Oregano, thyme and sage will take forever from seed. Small plants and regular trimming once they are rooted in their new homes.

A sunny 32 here & windy !
Made potato soup for lunch,, enough left for tomorrow. !!

Have a dish of steamed Broccoli to turn into something for me to eat.

Got some instant things in the cupboard to add to the Broccoli.

Been talking on line with grand daughter, about getting together next month.

She suggested the Country Club at Penn State collage.

Has any of the PA posters eaten there?

From reading the menu & looking at pictures,, appears the burgers are large.

isn't it strange when you realise that some people are really losing their senses.. clearly some dementia going on... and they can't see it themselves... while all the rest of us can

If you mean the weight loss surgery misunderstanding, I think that was more of an American thing. Americans overshare heath details frequently in RL (more acceptable online maybe), except cosmetic procedures and a lot of Americans provide too much detail even about those.

I read early on in a post that you said you were having a hernia repair and that probably stuck in my mind because of being in health care, but to use a more generic 'abdominal surgery' most posts could be mistaken for reticence about going in for something cosmetic. Anyhow, none of your pretty pics look like you need anything cosmetic!

Meatloaf and au gratin potatoes in the oven. I don't think anybody else here likes either, but I do, so I'm making them. Broccoli for a vegetable. They all like broccoli. God gave us the brains to invent meatloaf so that we could make sandwiches with leftover meatloaf.

I'm hungry and damn tired of trendy food, pizza and drive-thru. When it's drive-thru, I don't participate. When it's trendy, I pick out what I like and put that on my plate. When it's pizza, I usually pass.

I'd run away if I had a place to go and money to get there. I've even entertained the idea of going back to the UP and its brutal climate.

In five minutes, I have a scheduled call with one of the core-group people in the river stewardship group I belong to.

Next thing is I met a guy on the weekend who acquires & sells good used books, and it turns out he lives in a rented cabin down the hill from me. I'm going to take some books I no longer want/need to him and see if he's interested in any of them.

I'll also be contributing something, beyond than my normal daily chores, to the tidying up of our house. That's as far as I can say what my plans & achievement will be for today.

I have always wanted to try a Scotch egg.

Thanks for the info. Once upon a time I grew herbs outdoors but it has been ages. I never had much luck with dill. It seemed so fragile. Yes, I will use separate pots (corralled in a long planter) and try to replenish when needed, if I don't kill them all!

Wow that was nice of the realtor! I'm happy for your daughter. I had that nice life event last fall when my daughter closed on their forever home.
Ok @Pepper I'll send some orange juice. How about fresh squeezed? 🤗

You all know what I'm going to say.......now I'm craving Scotch eggs! I never had one in my life but my taste buds sense they're delicious!

Oh, thank you for the update! So glad your ok and so sad for fire victims. 😔

We just had meatloaf too. With baked potato and green beans and carrots.
It just feels like comfort food weather.
I'm n nd of tired of pizza too.

This must be me because I have absolutely no idea what y'all are talking about.

Not you what?

Did I come in in the middle of the movie?
Don't look at me for answers, I was standing next to you in the popcorn line @Georgiagranny, so I'm equally mystified. However, I'm consoling myself with the popcorn.

Say... is that a box of ice cream bon bons poking out of your jacket pocket???

Kind of a crappy day today. I've been so good in battling my depression lately, getting up (relatively) early each day, making the bed, showering, exercising, staying on top of my deadlines, etc. Today it kind of all fell apart. :cautious:

Here's hoping I can get back on track tomorrow.

Am sorry...understand how some days can fall apart. Hug.
