Utter Stupidity in Bureaucracies

I get fed up with comapnies not knowing what their right hand is doing.

In the last few days I've had my internet supplier tell me ( the date a few days hence) when they're changing me over to the latest superfast Broadband... then a day later tell me it can't be done on that date and to call them, so I called them, they denied all knowledge, and said it was going ahead on the orifginal date.. today I've received yet another mail from them saying it's not going ahead on the original date, and will be 2 days later .....but a different dept of the same company have sent a seperate email saying to call them and arrange a new date * sigh *

Then just yesterday, I ordered new distance glasses, online from a company I've bought from in the distanct past ..

I knew the drill . Choose the glasses . Complete the online form giving all the info on my latest eye prescription, then upload the prescription and send it with my completed form...

Well that started a whole raft of emails from them...

What were the glasses for ?.. Distance I replied... back comes not one but 2 mails telling me that did I realise if I bought Distance glasses, I wouldn't be able to use them for reading ?.. (no chit sherlock ).... I reply yes I know this.. back comes another 2 emails essentially saying the same thing, and that was ... for an Invoice.. then yet another email asking if I was sure I'd completed the online from with all my details for distance glasses... I replied somewhat curtly this time saying'' . If you're able to read the prescription I sent I'm sure you can work it out for yourselves ''..

All in all 9 emails about one simple order...
Welcome to the club Holly. I notice with delight that in your country (and in the U.S.) the same insanity in mail order service (and not just there!) is taking place as in shitty old Germany :ROFLMAO:.

I could feel familiar because of this in GB and the USA too.

The good old post office is not an alternative. In Germany the mail charges are rising again and the delivery time for letters is getting longer (from one day to three days).

IMHO , it all comes down to lack of customer service ! Seems rampant in just about every product / business. What amazes me is .... these folks on the other end of the call / web-site , buy the same things we do. Hard to believe that they do not feel / experience the same frustrations we do ? And set about trying to correct it on their end.

You'd think they'd have an online order form you could fill out and not even have to deal with an actual person.
Yep. That's one of the things that puts this company 30 years behind times.

From what I gather, the "leader" of this company is some sort of scientist who has developed various types of parrot pellets to address various health conditions in those birds. There are probably dozens of companies that manufacture organic pellets (call these sort of a "kibble" for parrots) but this one specifically has a pellet that addresses liver problems in parrots. My vet recommended it.

I can see the wisdom of putting this type of pellet behind the need for a vet prescription. Feeding a parrot this pellet without the bird needing some help with its liver could be/probably is detrimental to the bird's health. All well and good, but other companies manage to work with veterinarians to secure these scripts without a lot of customer involvement.

This "leader" might be a Fauci-level "scientist" but he sure as hell doesn't know how to run a business efficiently.

George, our Post office has been delivering the mail for the last 2 years whenever they feel like it.. many people are not getting mail more than a couple of times a month... so just last week they came to an agreement they will actually deliver mail the way they used to which promises people mail at least every other day. It's diabolical...given the horrendous hike in postage .. for one single stamp it costs £1.65...= Euro 1.98... and $2.05 US

You're not gonna believe this, after the internet provider changed my istallation dates 3 times.... I called them today and said, llook , this os really unacceptable... I need a definitive date, for this installatipn... so she said after a lot of searching for dates... it will be 2 days, one will be the 11th of february, and the second date woill be the 18th... so I say are you sure, this date isn't going to change again is it ?..No , she says...that's all booked in..

... 2 hours later I get a text from the company changing the dates again... I was just šŸ˜– .. so I've just called them again a few minutes ago, and asked what the heck they're playing at...

I was told this is down to the installation company, who are seprate from the provider, and they ned to have access to certain euqipment to get up to the top of the telephone pole, and they only have that on certain dates... so anyway.. he's changed the dates again.. assured me AGAIN, they will not change.. so we will see.. If they change this a 5th time, then I will cancel my subscription ...I've been with this provider for decades, and it is said loyalty gets you the worst service, and it looks like that's what happening here..

Maybe the UK shouldn't have privatized mail delivery.

Congo African grey. She's a rescue bird I've had since 2018 or so. Some issues with her (I call her a "special needs" bird), but she's mine (or vice-versa) and I definitely want to take care of her. Jackie is about 18 years old.

I've always admired macaws and fostered a blue and gold for a while about 20 years ago. Would not own one today. I'm getting too long in the tooth.
African Greys are smart thus the problem and require lots of attention , I think they and Cockatoos due to that are biggest feather pluckers .

I love parrots and in the 80s had a half moon conure , sun conure both lived over 25 years . Being in my 70s I now go with finches but lots parrot owners in my area .

I completely agree with that. These utility providers bank on the fact that once a service is installed and is functioning, most people just want to pay their bill and keep on truckin'. The providers spend time and effort chasing those who aren't yet customers and leave the long-timers out there.

Case in point: I just dumped AT&T internet. It took about 3 phone calls and a wait of about 45 minutes before I could get someone on the phone to whom I planned to say -- "Cancel my account." I told her up front I wanted no debate, no questions, no sales pitch. Just cancel. Of course, she ignored me and asked me why I wanted to cancel. I told her, "I choose not to answer that or any other question. Just cancel."

There is no provision on their web site to cancel your account. You have to go to them, jump through their hoops, just to cancel. It shouldn't be that difficult, but they purposely set it up that way. Some people don't want to go through the rigmarole, so they continue paying with crappy, slow service. Not me.

The kicker is, the modem I'd been using dates from 2017. They told me initially I had to send it back (on their nickel) but then I got an email that said, "Don't bother sending it back. Just recycle it."

If that modem was such a valuable asset, worthy of use in the AT&T system, why was no effort made to get me to upgrade to something faster? More reliable?

Nope. They don't do that because they're chasing other people, leaving you, the long-term customer, hang out to dry.
