This is why you need to learn to appreciate Jazz. We grow up in a world dominated by Pop and Rock music (among other genres). The form of this music is melody, verse, chorus, melody, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. It becomes second nature to us, because it's everywhere all the time.
Jazz can have this, but it's not all it has. It's the performance, the interplay of instruments, and more. Which is why, likely, it's considered more "high brow". The truth is, you have to
unlearn some of your music listening habits and to subvert expectations to truly get there.
