Good morning and Happy Valentine's Day!

As forecast, yesterday it poured down rain. Last week's roof repair of the damage from those 80-100 mph whipping winds in early January? Let's just say it wasn't done a moment too soon.

Unfortunately, there were mudslides, flooding, and mandatory evacuations in burn areas. Wildfires are the gift that keep on giving.

I forgot completely it was Valentines day...no valentines for me from anyone... 😔...altho' when I got home a little while ago there was a message from a guy who lives in the next town who is on the local whatsApp group.. asking if I fancied going out for a drink sometime.....not really my cup of tea this guy, but well you never know I might... we'll see.....he's recently widowed and just looking to get out after 2 years mourning

Anyway got the stools dropped off at the recycle shop it's still a beautful if cold day... then because I thought my battery might be dying, I drove to Costco, which is a 30 mile round trip.. just to pump some life into the battery...I got a few things in Costco.. mainly paper goods like kitchen paper etc... but I also got a pack of Creme Brulee.. 6 in the pack for just under £6.00.. use by date 13th march...

I'm not sure I'll be able to eat them all by then....I was a bit peeved because nearly £8 VAT ( value added tax) was added to my bill for just 4 items ..thats HUGE... here in the U K food is not taxed.. so some disposable gloves , kitchen paper, Washing up rubber gloves and 1 other item had £8 added in Vat ...I'm very annoyed about that... it really makes it less money saving going to Costco when that happens...

The great thing today in Costco tho', one of the food sample people was giving out Sirloin steak to try.. and he'd just cooked a whole steak, so it was hot, and he gave me quite a big piece...delicious...but I do prefer Rump... ..and then as I walked around.... because it's Valentines the samples were almost all dark chocolate...yummmmy.....:p

I asked in Costco if they would fit a battery for me if I bought it there, they said no... but it's only £53 for a battery , cheaper than most other places , so I'm going to call the AA of whom I'm a member and ask if they might do it...I could take it to a garage but it will cost double.

I was driving back on the very busy friday afternoon motorway, and it just dawned on me.. I've only had 45 minutes sleep in the last 32 hours....(truth )... if I'd thought of that before I went out, I wouldn't have risked driving.. fortunately I didn't feel at all tired, still don't....it's now 4pm....still sunny.. it'll be dark in about an hour!

We don't have Cosco but I've eaten lunch off the samples at Sam's Cub. 😊

it's easy if they have things you like, isn't it ?.. most of the time they don't have stuff I like..usually very spicy things or alcohol.. which I don't drink..

I tell you what tho' I was stunned, at the entrance was the first sampler, never normally one at the entrance, and she was giving out dark chocolates, having chopped them up first ... and as I walked in a few feet.. there was a big display of Valentine Chcolate boxes.. £80 a box... I can't think of any way on this earth, much as I love dark chcolate that I would pay £80 for a box of choclates..they'd have to be made of gold..lol.. and I'd be upset if a man spent that on chcolate for me..

Good Morning ,,Folks!
Sun is shining,,,may not be very warm,,bright day,,makes me feel good.

Heads up! I just got a card from Home Warranty Division,, in the mail.
It got my husband all excited that we might have large bill coming due that we didn't know about.

After he left, I did an online search,, SCAM!
Not only do we have scammers on line.
They are going back to using snail mail.:mad:

Morning all folks!@! Woke at 3am again dang it....ah well...managed to get the left shoe on right foot this morning,
no really, jammed that foot into the sneaker till it went on!~!!!
I'm a mess I think today....no snow yet today, it is 25F right now..
FEEL OKAY considering how ancient I am....my friend the P.I.
scooped my drive/sidewalk, and porch yesterday...I remember when I had that kind of energy......No big plans for the day as
it stands right now, will see what shakes down....
HAPPY VALENTINE DAY ALL FOLKS!!!! 🥰😘😍😆
Hawk - what are we going to do with you? Boat shoes come with red and green tabs at the heel. For you landlubber let's make that right and left.
Call a friend, have some coffee, figure out what is for dinner.

TGIF. It is cold, freezing cold! Birds got etra food. I saved several containers of Zinia seeds last summer. That is the equivalent of Valentine's Day chocolate for finches.

Stackable metal boxes for the second freezer came last night. I know what I will be doing. At least the garage is warm.

SO laid a towel path to the hot tub for me yesterday. I slipped and fell under similar black ice conditions a few years back.

If all works out he will install my truck's break pads, the new shower hardware and swap out the instant hot water this week end. Then it will be pouring shot like crazy as he sold the equipment. :>))))

We went to see Charlene at McD's. We could see past her window that her workspace was loaded up with gifts and valentines. There are sure a lot of folks who really like her. Hope McD's appreciates her.

In a few minutes we're going to visit DGS at work and bring him a valentine gift, too. I haven't see him since Christmas because he's so far away that when DD goes over there, I don't go along...an hour or more on the road? There is no rush hour here; it's 24 hours of rush. Ugh.

We were supposed to have a warm(ish), sunny day today, but apparently they were only kidding! So I cleaned out a cabinet indoors this morning, instead of going outside. I'm happy to have gotten a pile of things that I will never never use again (or, in some cases, never used at all) put to the side to donate to charity. 😀

Happy Valentine's Day! 💕

Another snow storm forecast tomorrow and Sunday.

Went to Stop and Shop for some items, even tho' they're higher priced than Aldi, things I wanted Aldi doesn't have this time.

Grrrr, I actually caught a clerk taking off labels for ice cream that read "5.29" and replaced with labels that read : "WAS 6.89, NOW 5.29"! Lies, all lies. There were still containers on the shelves that read 5.29 that she hadn't gotten to yet! Thieves.
Eggs were 7.99 a doz, I didn't need any.
There are 2 other supermarkets here, but are across town. I'll be going to them, if not Aldi.

Going to make a small pasta sauce today.

Have fun everyone :D

Been working on cleaning out closets today. It amazed me how much stuff was in them. Weeded out clothes too and shoes. Bags full going to Goodwill. Just have one more closet to get to tomorrow. Mostly linens and towels in it, I think. Who knows...after gutting it out, I might find other stuff.

Sometimes Holly, you can have the most engaging, platonic friendship with someone. A young lady that I knew as a student from my college days, was such a friend. She worked in hospital management, I'm not sure how, later in her life, that she came to be working in the USA.

What I do remember is the invitation to visit her and meet her American husband. That invitation led to my wife and I crossing the pond every year, sometimes twice, as well as that lovely couple heading our way, for over thirty years. They lived in Savannah Georgia, and as that State borders Florida we often spent time there too.

The husband passed away about eight years ago and my lifelong lady friend died back in 2022.

Sitting in my favorite place in Tanque Verde having my favorite corn and green chilis tamales; pom and grapefruit margarita and a sopapilla for dessert! Been shopping this afternoon. Store are full of Easter 😳 decor. What happened to St Patties??😟
I ask them if they could reach something for me on the top shelf at the grocery store.
I get asked to get things often, as I am about 5'9-10" with my clogs on. I went to Japan once and felt like a GIANT woman. Denmark: no so much.

I often ask people in wheelchair type grocery carts if I can get something for them when I see them staring at something on a higher shelf. I feel so bad for people who have to shop who don't have the ability to stand and reach.

The weather is changing to cooler. I can tell because the wind is blowing during the day and dies at night. My eldest DD had her 25th wedding anniversary. I sent them a beautiful hand made wreath of cream colored tulips and greenery.

Cream colored tulips are what I used to make her wedding bouquet and reception event table center pieces of for her wedding in Feb 2000.

Yes I know HC I remember you talking of this couple often in the past, and the lady's death, and how sad you were...

I am feeling down today. It’s Valentine’s Day. I have a husband here . Not only have I never received a Valentine’s Day card or gift from him in our 36 year marriage but he hasn’t said one word to me today…. Not one!
I have given him a gift every year until this one and that makes me feel bad! Why should I feel bad about that?
He is in his room as he is every day. We do absolutely nothing together. I’m lonely, sad and bored.

That fake mark down is unacceptable!

Why don't you leave him?

Can't you talk to him about this? Discussion can cure all kinds of issues.

I have a little room where I spend a lot of time. But I engage with my wife every day. We talk, we go out for little lunch dates together.

I have a family member who seems to be a in completely loveless marriage. But they don't seem to do anything about it.

You can have a marriage or relationship and give your partner the room and space to enjoy themselves. My wife and I share our domestic duties like cleaning, dusting and scrubbing the lavatories. We share an enjoyable social life, but we also have our own time too.

In the garden is a purpose built cabin where the lady indulges in her hobby of dressmaking. Once in a while I will make a hot drink and take it to her, the pleasure of her thank you smile is enough, it pleases me that she enjoys her hobby.

Our marriage is a friendship based on love and trust, it allows for friendship with others, but we still love each other dearly. Today, she got the flowers and chocolates, even though we promised, "No Valentines," instead she was given a non Valentine card, (that's how I dodged the no valentine agreement,) and a message of love.
Her eyes welled up as she read my message, then I was treated to that enigmatic smile and wet kisses.

Consider yourself hugged and loved.
Can you plan something and kind of invite him to it?
