How are egg prices in your locale?

Wegman’s is advertising the store brand at $4.79.

Yesterday when I was in the store the supply was plentiful.

On the news the other night they talked to a local egg farmer that has 250,000 chickens and produces 20,000 dozen eggs per day.

He had just sent a shipment of eggs to Texas due to the shortage.

He said he is making a windfall profit right now but it wouldn’t come close to protecting him if bird flu is introduced to his flock.

He has his employees change clothes and shoes before entering his barns, walk through a disinfectant bath for the soles of their shoes, and cautions employees to avoid contact with wild geese and ducks in public parks.

He added, that a few years ago the price of eggs were at $0.99/dozen and he could barely pay his bills.

Such is the life of a farmer.

I know you're talking about the US...but here in the UK where there is no Bird Flu ... a dozen free range eggs are £2.39....

a couple of days ago in Cosstco...I saw 24 large eggs for $4.50

My Local Tesco sells a dozen "XL, Very Large" free-range eggs at £2.25 ($2.83 US), and £1.95 ($2.46 US) for standard "Large" eggs.

Avian flu as been reported extensively in the UK. Over the past 3 months, almost 1.8 million captive birds in the UK have been culled because of the spread of avian flu across the country. There have been 33 outbreaks of the virus on UK farms, by far mainly in England. The government has been telling farms in the affected areas to keep their flocks inside for now, to reduce the risk of uninfected birds being infected.

Yet another difference between UK and the US. Over here there are 12 in a dozen.
Just having a bit of fun. 😊
