America, the price of your OTC meds are about to rise...significantly

It's clearly fear-mongering fake news.

It is hard to uncover the bias because the author, "fact checker," and publication are darned good at covering their tracks. That makes it easy for the reader to be tricked into assuming that it isn't just another baseless political screed.

A lot of such products are already under a patchwork of tariffs, many dating from just two years ago.

One of the script-reading talking heads at CBS actually just said that WW II was the result of "too much free speech" - amazing!

Here’s a tip when the drug ads show on TV. Close your eyes and listen to what is said. Don’t watch the movies of happy beautiful people playing tennis, vacationing at resorts, skiing down the slopes, and playing with their grandchildren. Before you decide you need Pretenda, just listen. It may not sound as good as it looks.
Yes, especially when they start reciting those endless lists of possible side effects, sometimes ending with "death."

That's why I still take Breo. I always ask my Doctors (PC and Pulmonologist) after they listen to my lungs if they hear any indication of Emphysema, as I was told by my Doctor in Eureka that she could "hear the beginning crackles" in 2006. They fortunately say they do not. So once again I'm glad I quit smoking.
That’s what my doctor told me when he found I had pneumonia. He said he heard”crackling” on the upper left lobe. It’s been 3 weeks now and I’m still not 100% over it. I think it’s just a matter of time, but if I relapse, I will have to go back on antibiotics.

If you are coughing a lot like I was when I had pneumonia, ask your Doc for some Tessalon Perles. (Benzonatate) Those worked wonders for me...
My doctor prescribed them for me. They do work very well. He also recommended buying Delsym. He gave me 2 samples of the inhaler, Trelegy, which each one has 10 doses. When I left the hospital, I had Thrush, which required another prescription for lozenges, (Clotrimazole). They did the job of clearing away the Thrush.

I had Thrush once and I couldn't shake it. My Doc had me washing my mouth out 4 times a day with this gawd awful tasting stuff called Nystatin, and it just wasn't working. So he told me he would do some research on different meds and to stop using the Nystatin. Shortly after I stopped using it, the thrush went away. He was baffled.

He asked if I had changed my diet, had I been sick otherwise in recent months, had I changed my primary form of exercise, what was I drinking most of the time, etc. and when I answered them all, when I got to what I drink I said mostly Iced Tea and Coffee. He asked me if I had changed brands of tea or coffee, I said no, but I did switch from sugar to Equal. And it made my A1c improve by a point. Aha!

He said that high blood sugar levels from diabetes can cause Thrush, and asked if I switched to Equal before or after I stopped using Nystatin. I said about two weeks before. He said that with the improvement in my blood sugars and the last two weeks of using Nystatin, that must have done the trick.

I was happy. Nystatin was some nasty tasting stuff... And I still use Equal! (y)

Meanwhile in Canada, corporations and trade unions are PROHIBITED from making ANY donations to a political party or candidate. Individual Canadians can make a donation to a party or a candidate BUT that is limited to only $1,700 per year. In practice the vast majority of Canadian voters are NOT members of any political party, and for sure you don't have to be one in order to vote here. Different country, different rules.
As far as I know, we here in the U.S. don’t have to belong to a political party to vote. The only exception to that rule is that if you are registered as an Independent, you can’t vote in the primaries. I don’t know if that rule is in all states or maybe just in select states like here in PA. I am a registered Independent and I haven’t voted a straight ticket since Reagan’s first term. I could care less about the Party or their platform. I vote on who I believe will do the better job. I am not involved in politics, so I’m really not onboard with all the rules.

Ain't that the truth! Back in 2008 my wife had all kinds of health problems and was given a prescription for Zofran 4 times a day. At that time Zofran was $35 per pill. Our Pharmacist told us that a 30 supply was going to be $4,200 a month! There was no way we could afford that.

So we talked to the Doc and she prescribed something else that was cheaper but didn't work anywhere near as well, while we waited for a decision from our drug plan as to whether they would cover it. Fortunately they decided to, so she was only on the other medication for two weeks.

In 2016 after I had Colon Cancer surgery, my Doc wrote a prescription for it for 3 times a day. I told him we couldn't afford it. He then told us that Zofran's Patent had expired and that there was a generic called Ondansetron that was 17¢ a pill. How's that as an example of using the patent system as leverage? That $35 per pill BS was because the primary use was for treating cancer patient's nausea and it was fueled GlaxoSmithKline's greed.

Without going into details due to the nature of things - my wife was hospitalized two months or so ago. She was kept in for two days. She had resisted going in, but she was forced to comply. Fine. If someone needs care..... but I just settled a bill for $20K for a lot of nothing. It's crazy.

I wanted to be annoyed, angry even. Mad. But I couldn't because of the circumstances. Instead you bend over. Grrrrr.

Sorry to hear about your situation. It will be of no consolation that others have it every bit as worse!

Without going into personal details, who was it that forced her -- against her wishes -- to comply??? 😲😡

Don't forget the moves within the last 2 weeks demanding that pharma charge only the best price that they offer to other countries.
