Female Fashion Trends over the years.

I don't know if it's weird or not, but for as long as I can remember, any time a fashion trend appears, my first thought is always "How can that possibly be comfortable?"

There are some that baffle me. Turtleneck sweaters with no sleeves? Are you cold or not?

Mini skirts? You are literally one inch away from letting everyone see your underwear.

Thongs? I'm sorry, you're walking around with a voluntary wedgie. There's no way that can be comfortable.

High heels, to me, are a study in torture. I don't know why women put themselves through that. It's got to hurt walking around like that.
The day of my high school graduation, I wore flats (shoes) because I needed every way I could think of to help me be calm in order to keep my essential tremors as still as possible, and wearing flats, not heels, would help. However, my sister, my mother and my aunt hounded me into wearing my sister's high heels.

As they argued with me to wear the heels I had to give in because it was stressing me & stress worsens shaking. I made it okay across the stage, but when I was in a crowd of graduates, I was taller than many around me so stuck out like a sore thumb and this stress got my head shaking & boy was it fun turning my head this way & that "looking" around to disguise it. Ever since, I've thought of those 3 women as 3 witches. 🤣

So tell me. Do I look as ridiculous as I feel? I feel like a little girl playing dress up with Mommy's clothes and makeup. The occasion is a 90-year-old friend's birthday. It is a $ 70-a-plate dinner and semi-formal dress. I have not put makeup on for years and I hope in a bright light I don't look like a clown. My semi-formal bright red attire doesn't fit me as well as when I was 20 pounds heavier many years ago. The costume jewelry is really cheap but looks pretty.

Is it a terrible social no-no to wear a mink coat? What do we wear to a semi-formal event? The coat belonged to my mother and is a little on the small side for me but if you saw my everyday coat you would see I am not wearing it.

Oh, this is painful! Trying to make all these decisions and feeling completely out of place at a $ 70-a-plate dinner. That is a little higher class for me. I am good with going to Subway for lunch because that is the best food for a few dollars.

Time to go-- ah, ah, wish me luck. I will be so glad when this is over!

I wish we had a picture of you. Bet you look adorable!!

Fashion, clothes in general, are a huge problem.

From Google: Clothes pollution is a significant environmental issue, contributing to water and air pollution, as well as the release of microplastics. The textile industry is responsible for about 20% of global water pollution from dyeing and finishing products, and it is also a major source of water degradation and land use.24 Washing synthetic clothing can release up to 700,000 microplastic fibers per laundry load, which can end up in the food chain.2 Additionally, the production of textiles requires substantial water resources; for instance, producing a single cotton t-shirt requires 2,700 liters of fresh water, enough to meet one person’s drinking needs for 2.5 years.

Not to mention the cost of Gymnophobia, in regards to the porn industry.

Sad to see people judge their worth by the clothes they drape over something much more beautiful.

Turtle without sleeve
You never wore a blazer in a professional environment. There is no room for the sleeves and you can bend over.

Mini skirt
There is never a reason to bend over. See Princess D.

Thongs
Actually they are comfortable. How do cotton shorts feel in tight jeans?

High Heels
Shoes have to fit. In heels I can put an arm around son's neck when he wears heeled boots. Strut your stuff before you need a walker. Well, needed one for a while.

Some great points Dave! Not trying to start a fight, but male fashions - as a rule - have not been as strange and revealing as women's fashion. Why are they so anxious to show so much skin?
Darlin' look at at young cowboy in a pair of tight fitting jeans and riding boots and do not drool:)))

It is kind of chilly around here so the "something much more beautiful" gets draped.

would be a bit silly to say you can't wear tight yoga pants at a gym.
I agree those yoga pants are no big deal , they are no different then lycra shorts

You know you are in Miami when you go food shopping and the grandmother , mother , 2 daughters are all food shopping in bikinis .

When half the mothers at a teachers parents night wear less clothes then the waitresses at Hooters .

Well this close to 73 years old man is off to go food shopping at Walmart and only going to wear speedos .

On the subject of gym clothing, I go to the Senior Center, so inappropriate attire is never an issue.

There is one guy, though, that always comes in and makes a lot of noise while riding an exercise bike, moaning and breathing really loud. He'll lean back and unzip his sweat jacket down to his belly with no shirt on underneath, exposing a chest full of gray hair. It was annoying at first, but now people just roll their eyes at him.

I think everyone at the birthday party read your advice. I expected more formal clothes and more silverware than a fork and knife. :ROFLMAO: I have seen people going to church dressed better. I think only one man wore a suit. Perhaps in Oregon formal means clean clothes. My 90 year friend was dressed simiformal and I think I am the only other person who was dressed simiformal. :ROFLMAO: I will never again worry about going to a formal dinner in Oregon.

Put on your clothes Grandpa. You are scaring the horses. :ROFLMAO:

Planet Fitness has a dress code. Apparently tight yoga pants is not on the list but clothes that are too revealing are.
My favorite gym clothes are baggy pants and a sleeveless shirt. However, it is mostly older people there when I go and none of them are showing off their bodies. We are talking about how hard it is to keep fit. Fit means being able to move our bodies without too much pain. :ROFLMAO:
