oooh I'm taking time to wake up... it's 9.45am... drizzly weather.. 12 deg not cold...

as I predicted I didn't get to sleep until 5am.. and I got up again at 9... 🥱

I have the the zoom meeting later this morning

Hawkie, what are you going to do about the Racoon ?🤔
My missus and I were awake most of the night, her recovery continues, but last night was a difficult night and I must have picked up on the vibes. We were back in bed before five and hoping that she gets some restful sleep, I went and laid down in another bedroom.

Later this morning, taking her tea and toast, she regaled me with an eight o'clock phone call. Being that time she didn't think of looking at the incoming number, she assumed that it was a friend or relative and might be important. It was a telemarketeer, selling goodness knows what.

He kicked off: "Hi I'm David....." and before he got into his spiel she gave him both barrels: "David, it's 8:00 o'clock, I am old, I've had a sleepless night, I am recovering from heart surgery and the worst thing you could have done is to call me before I have had my sociability cup of tea. NOW GO!" She then hung up.

The lady has since enjoyed her tea and toast, I was rewarded with that engaging smile of her's when I presented her with a second cup of piping hot tea. She tells me that I make a good cup of tea. I wouldn't know, I have never been able to drink it, don't even like the smell of it. A Brit that hates tea, worse, a Brit that drinks coffee, black and strong without any sweetener. And none of that instant muck either.

My four legged friend has just arrived, he's currently cuddled up to his favourite toy. Still a bit drizzly outside so will wait a little longer before going for a walk with him. Son and eldest granddaughter have set off for Stratford-upon-Avon for a couple of nights to see a Shakespeare play (Hamlet) and a Christopher Marlowe play (Edward II). Although it is half term, youngest granddaughter has been going into school for a few hours each day to study for her mock GCSE exams which she'll be taking in a couple of weeks.

Nothing else planned for me and Rocco, other than a walk followed by a snuggle up together on the settee.

The lady said that she wants to find that telemarketeer's number to give him a call, either in the early hours, or better still, when he might be hung over. She's in a much better mood now. We are off out soon, calling into one of her former ambulance colleagues to giver her the suit that my wife has been making, I think that it might be for a spring wedding.

We shall then head along the coast to Southampton to Fabricland's store, then later, along the coast further still to Portsmouth. There we have two calls, first The Seamstress of Bloomsbury and then onto Rock 'N' Romance, it's going to be a busy day, could be painful on the wallet though.

Good to hear that Mrs HC is starting to feel well enough to give someone a piece of her mind... enjoy your day... :D

Got two doctors appointments at the same department at different times. 9 am and 10:30. Someone made a mistake. I will show up at 9. If the appointment is at 10:30 I'll tell them I'm going outside to smoke cigarettes for awhile, just to see the look on their faces😆. My doctor is really anti smoking.

Gracious! Y'all have been chatty this morning, and it's not even 7am yet.

@hollydolly Fingers crossed for good news from your phone conversation this morning🤞. @OneEyedDiva I have to sort meds this morning for the week, and I think of you mentioning doing the same a while back. It's just a little thing, but I loathe doing it. @hawkdon I don't know what to even say about the Critter Crisis! 🦝It's not funny, but it's funny. @horseless carriage A telemarketer at 8am? I wouldn't have been as "gracious" as Mrs. HC! @Pam You go ahead and walk the dog in the rain. I'll wait here;). @Oldeagle66 Two appointments? Maybe you're twice as sick as you thought...

It's sort of cold, supposed to be sunny and windy today, and our high temp not reaching 40.. It's all relative. The "cold" is 26F, which would have driven me back under the covers not too long ago when our daytime temps were in the 70s. Today 26 seems not too bad. Having said that...tomorrow morning is supposed to be in the teens.

By Tuesday next week our daytime temp is supposed to reach 70, a veritable heat wave. We live in the Land of YoYo Weather.

This morning my intention is to make blueberry scones. Intention. The road to you-know-where is paved with good ones ;).

Okay. Enough monkey business. Laundry awaits. And scones.

Looking out the window to a half inch of snow. Its very pretty. As with the last storm, the children posted their snowfalls on group text. Usually my oldest daughter further north has the most followed by son, then us. This time youngest daughter beat us all with gorgeous pictures from ski vacation in Colorado. Show off! 🤗

More snow. About twenty degrees Fahrenheit. Gym, read, write, draw. Maybe watch movie I didn't get to see yesterday because we watched the end of a show called "Disclaimer," which I found fairly distasteful. Starting to think I need a new thing to do. I'm not very good at volunteer activities but I'll keep looking.

Going to be a snow day today. Plans include calling my sister, finishing a book I've been reading, and spending some time on HOA matters. Wife and I may watch a movie in the afternoon -- I'm thinking about an old British film called I Know Where I'm Going.

Looking forward to the peace and quiet!
Did you watch it? it's one of my favorites, particularly the song that goes with it, which I had never heard before.

Just cross-posted with you. Isn't it funny how we SFs think about each other across miles and time?

Left: in winter, the northerners might envy our warm winters
Right: but in summer at 119.8F, it's our turn to envy their cool summers

My pickup comes in handy many times. To avoid having the tree falling on the fence, I cut the bottom of the dead tree by 4/5th, and
then I pull it down with my P/U it in the right direction. I give the firewood to a poor neighbor who uses it to heat the house at night

My wife's flower garden is not in its best shape. But when she soon retires from work, then she will restore it beautifully

Well that's not very tactful of them!

After 70, I found out my Air Force ID, which is also my military medical insurance card, never has to be renewed. Humph. Evidently 70 or 100 it's all the same to them.
No not tactful at all..I agree..... I never see the point of it tbh, it would be different if we had to take a medical test every 3 years after 70..but we don't..so I don't see the point of taking our licences from us and replacing them with what I see really is temp licences...
