What is wrong with people? Hackers!

I usually do a zoom meeting several times a week of the free exercise classes on Senior Planet by AARP. Enjoyable, popular, and free.

This morning I logged on and the facilitator said that he had to keep the videos turned off because they have been getting hacked. And during the session, messages popped up twice asking participants to unmute, even though the facilitator had to ask everyone to keep muted.

Why in the world would someone think it’s funny to impede on a beneficial program for senior citizens that at least 700-800 people attend every day? I’m rather disgusted.

And, do I have to worry about my computer if I keep logging on?
 

One of the great things about the internet is that anyone can connect to it, and one of the worst things about the internet is that anyone can connect to it. "Anyone" is a human, and that kind of explains hackers.

BTW....Yesterday, I got one of those scams about my computer being "locked", and to call this number (supposedly Microsoft Inc.)

Why does someone beat up and steal the purse of an 70 year-old woman? Because they are sickos and can.
 
cheating and thievery were once many moons ago rather hidden from view and so we got nasty surprises when they happened - now they are popping up everywhere on our screens - as we humans get smarter with our inventions and machines so follow on the vagabonds and misfits ; thieves ; psycopaths at all levels of high life and low life - and there we are in the middle trying to survive!!
 
We most likely cannot trust anything now with the total upheaval / disarray / Hate !
It's a sad time and most likely full of real bad luck. "Moneypenny" says its a time of
Total Ponzi Scheme infections. I could suppose the "middle words are Crazy!"

It's easy to guess the Worldwide Webs days are numbered, can't work anymore.

I would avoid clicking on any leads that pop-up too!

A restart helps the Puter clean out the bad stuff, then a Update / Virus Seach should be run. 11 pro is helpful.
I was warned earlier this evening the Waldo World web site is messed.
Knowing you are definitely a target would be a wise choice!

I fell for a scam about updating my email program. Clicking on the link, to do the update, locked me out of my email. But there just happened to be a site that would charge $55 to fix that. I fixed it myself.
Since then, I've been put on the "sucker" list. I get all kinds of emails with links to click on. The scammers have come a long way from the Nigerian Prince thing. It really is hard to tell if they're real or not. Usually, you can spot the phony email sending address, but some are good at hiding it at a quick glance.
 
My phone rings incessantly, showing a different number each time, which I never recognize. I don't pick up. But it's certainly an annoyance, and a constant distraction. I can't block it because they keep changing the number.

At the beginning, I did pick up a couple of times, and it's always that message trying to get me to say "Yes." When I don't, they go on with their pitch, asking if I get certain parts of Medicare. It's probably A-I, sounding believably human, but always using the exact same words. At that point, I hang up. But it doesn't discourage them. My number will probably be on their list forever.

I have no qualms about ignoring calls. I figure, if it's a real call, they'll just leave a message. Of course, these callers (using every community name in my state as their supposed location, ) never do leave a message.

When enough people catch on and the phones are hardly ever picked up, they'll find another way to drive us batty.
