A flower a day ...

We are suffering the driest summer in over 30 years ( according to the TV news last night )
not a drop of rain in months ,so my roses are not even flowering @Pinky

Adelaide Weather | Elders Weather

Adelaide had 11 mills….of rain in last 3+ months = less then 1/2 inch…..and none forecast in the near future
We are all hopping we get some from the tail end of a very nasty cyclone 🌀 that’s threatening parts of Queensland and New South Wales.

I hope the local water supply is sufficient to allow you to get your plants through the dry spell. I know about droughts but it seems yours might be even more severe. Here in California the southern part of the state is even dryer than we are. We only get 25 inches/year but Los Angeles gets only 14 inches/year.

We are lucky if we get 10 inches a year @MarkD

We have rainwater tanks but they are getting fairly low due ~ to little to no ~ winter rains ( we’ve got mains water as well) we heading into the end of summer ( 21st March ) with no rain recorded here at all during summer .

I haven’t heard how the reservoirs in the Adelaide hills are going , however our water is topped up by the mighty Murray river at a pumping station in a town called Morgan .

***The pipeline is used for the transfer of bulk water supplies to the Iron Triangle cities of Port Pirie, Port Augusta and Whyalla and supply to the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Eyre Peninsula water distribution networks.***

we have a pipeline ( the same as in the link ) to just outside the town/ and a huge storage tank as all those areas listed dont have any natural fresh water storage areas ( reservoirs water /holding areas )

Just came across this photo of the tall growing Lobelia aguana in what is probably my favorite photo of it, though you can't see the individual flowers so well.

It is the same one I showed in a video being fed on by a humming bird here in my first post on this thread:

Red Wax Ginger, Native to Queensland

Reminds me of gingers I've seen in Hawaii.

Here we are nearing the Spring Equinox and just had Daylight Savings start up again today. So I guess you are approaching autumn down under. Here is one flower I saw at the nearby Blake Garden in Kensington, California this past Tuesday. I think these are deservedly treasured where winters are longer and more severe. Snowdrops is what I've heard them called.

Love the colors. Similar to the yellow with pink on my Sally Holmes climber, though I am more fond of the peachy color on yours.

The leaves around the bottom of the rose belong to an Agave in the background.
Are they some type of dog rose? We have them growing wild around where we live. We have been snitching some from the road ditches and transplanting them to our front and back lawn.
