PA is a 2 hour drive north of where I live, The arid gardens are run by Indigenous people who have great knowledge of many food types of plants.
See one of the flowers is mostly red ( missing the black centre of flower )

Not quite that hot here @PeppermintPatty its forecast for 42 … 107 F here ….it’s still HOT
but not as bad as Port Augusta I mentioned…and that’s on water ,it’s on what’s called the Spencer gulf ….its sorta swampy …salty / crusty earth …. not open seas as such …so it gets extreme temps its very isolated desert area / town …

Well he’s a keeper for sure. The coral / peach is such a soft, pretty colour.
Yes we do @PeppermintPatty we have a very efficient ducted evaporative air conditioning , and because we have “dry heat“ it works very well .Oh! Only 107!
Evaporative air conditioning is useless in humid conditions, and we get an odd day or two of Humid weather, then we use the ( only ) fan option on the air conditioner
This for PORT AGUSTA ….i mentioned this morning…

I have a plant that may finally be ready to bloom this year. Similar strap like foliage growing from the largest of corms but it is a Watsonia, specifically this one: Watsonia vanderspuyiae | PlantZAfrica
Here is a photo of the flower taken by a Flickr friend who gardens near Philadelphia. He can grow anything but I doubt this was his own plant. He travels widely to photograph gardens and plants.

On the topic of kniphofias this one, K. multiflora is the most unusual one I've grown. A friend sent me a piece from his New Jersey garden part of which I was able to return to him later when he lost his original plant. Sadly we've bot lost them now. The tallest flower stalks I've seen on a Kniphofia.
