Sharing way too much information

So I was on my local community group on FB. I'm, I think pretty open minded about stuff, but this was too much sharing of info in my opinion. This woman posted that she got a lesbian manicure yesterday. So I thought to myself, oh that's weird, is there a manicurist that only deals with lesbians....but then that would be racist.

So as usual I googled lesbian manicure and I will let all of you google it yourselves. Anyways, I just thought it was unnecessary for this woman to add this info to our community group. She just could have said that she really liked the manicure she received period. We do have children as young as 12 on our group posting and I don't think it is appropriate to bring sexual stuff into the group.

Update, since I posted this, FB has shut down that particular group. Waiting to see what happens. Actually, I am not concerned about the short nails referring to lesbians only ( as everyone seems to think).... I am concerned about sexual content on our local FB group.

lol...firstly lesbians are not a race..so it couldn't be racist , lol.... but please tell me..or give me a clue because I'm not googling it....

So here you go! From Google AI:

"Lesbian nails" typically refers to the practice of keeping fingernails short, often considered a subtle visual cue within the LGBTQ+ community to signify that someone is a lesbian or identifies as a woman who is attracted to women; this is because short nails are seen as more practical for manual stimulation during sexual activity between women.

Doesn't seem very earth shattering to me...

what a load of old nonsense.. not you Buckeye.. but let's face it loads of people keep their nails short... they'd be horrified to think they are supposedly signifying that they're lesbians when they may not be...

Oh, you are right, my mistake, hollydolly, not racist but discrimination I guess.

A lesbian manicure (also known as a queer manicure, lesbian nails, femmicure etc.) is a style or trend of manicure intended to allow lesbians and other queer people in the LGBT community to safely and easily perform digital penetration during sex.

I never heard of such activity. I did some research and it is not shocking, just another way to stimulate that stuff. Maybe the person who mentioned it didn't know about the secksual connotations.?
No, I'm not saying it is shocking to me. I'm saying that within a family local community FB group where we talk about craft fairs, electricity bills going up, playdates for children, some young people also posting in to do snow shoveling or babysitting, I didn't think it was appropriate to bring up lesbian manicures.

The conclusions here are utterly stupid. Nurses, female doctors, certain trades women must keep their nails reasonably short lest they hurt someone. Mothers do not want to scratch up their children and all manner f reasons. Mine are fairly short, but filed nicely and buffed to a high gloss. Above all else, they are attractive.

Never heard of such and had to google as suggested.
Think many may understand the manicure to mean short nails on every finger.
But the images I've seen on the webs are usually of short nails on just a couple of fingers, and usually on just one hand ... TMI

No it is not earthshattering for sure. It's just that our FB local group has youngsters posting as well and I don't think ( since nothing ever, ever sexual is posted there) that we should have this discussion on there.

I agree with the title of this thread but I’m not so sure that I share much concern over the example given to illustrate the point.

IMO if you are old enough to understand the intended meaning or old enough to research the intended meaning you are probably not in much danger.

The average 12 year old, 7th grader, probably knows much more about modern slang and the intended meaning than I do.

They could use gloves as the physicians do. No need for short fingernails :ROFLMAO:

there was a time when all nurses were reqd to keep their nails trimmed shortly for obvious professional working reasons - I would imagine surgeons and other medical staff also?
Yes, of course. I was just kidding. Even my wife sometimes complains that I hurt her with my fingernails. But yesterday I did myself a lesbian manicure. What about gentlemen like me? Calling it a "gay manicure"?

By the way: More than a decade ago I had a gay coworker. He also earned some money at fairs grilling sausages. We lived and worked in a town with mostly Protestants. But some miles away (my birthplace) is a Catholic town, even an archdiocese. One day my wife and I met him there at a fair and he said "here I cut the 'Brötchen' (bread roll; small loaf of bread) with a Catholic cut" :ROFLMAO:

This is way over board. What do you call someone with long nails?
