Let's talk about magic

Magic is not supernatural, but it may seem to create and / or influence the outcome of a desired path. In the past I have manipulated a desired outcome with a series of hand and body movements that manifested itself as I predicted it would. Weird, but true.

I think magic is the knowledge of physics and nature when combined together influences a desired outcome.

This is not magic, this is knowledge

You're likely familiar with the phrase, "magic is just science we don't understand."

What type of hand and body movements? You're speaking of manipulating energy?

"Magic" is suggestion and distraction, sleight of hand, misleading props and gadgets, and other tricks of that sort. Using the word to cover superstition frustrates the heck out of professional magicians.

Most people know very little "science" or technology beyond a superficial level, and even then often just in narrowly specialized areas.

How many have a real clue how old-style telephones worked, let alone cell phones? Or a car? A microwave oven?

No, most people today know less about their world than the average person did 200,000 years ago.

We are surrounded by energy and it is possible to affect the energy by thoughts and deeds. This is what 'witches' do when they perform their rituals. They harness the energy and send it out into the universe.
Stonehenge is believed to have been used for this purpose. People would gather at the Solstice and dance round the stones. This generated energy and, coupled with the energy of the sunrise, they would create a vortex and send it spinning out into the world.

But we have google

My uncle was a magician. Every time he walked down the street he turned into a bar.

But seriously, when I was a teenager my aunt, originally from Ireland and I entered talent shows where I accompanied her bagpipes playing my drum to ‘Foggy Dew.’

We sometimes encountered a magician and his beautiful assistant at the same event. He would make her disappear in a revolving booth, cut her in half, place her in a wicker box and insert swords and they ended their act disappearing in a cloud of smoke to a huge ovation.

Was the secret to their magic that she was a contortionist? It must have been real magic because they always won the Reverewear.

I can see how controlling energy would be both addictive and enticing. Power in itself is exhilarating, once you know how to obtain power you will want more. Power is exhilarating, if I could channel the elements it would go to my head and I would probably screw something up.
Nope, give me good old fashion me any day and I promise not to screw things up.

I have known many magicians in my life. I have studied magic, and I have read many books on magic.

I personally have many tricks that I have studied and then done for my family, especially grandkids and now great grandkids. Magic is fun and entertaining when done well.

If you ever see "real magic", as opposed to trickery, you will know that you have been touched by God or the Devil...and you may be dead!

"...tricks that I have studied and then done for my family, especially grandkids and now great grandkids...." They know it's a trick, nothing to do with deception, so can be done for fun/entertainment. :)

??? this posts topic is "Let's talk about magic" Therefore, that is what I did!

Touched by god or the devil and I may be dead? What are your sources to make such a claim?

Has anyone been to Colon, Michigan . . . "The Magic Capitol of the World" and burial place of Harry Blackstone, Jr. ?

I young man who once worked for me had studied parlor magic from age five. You know it's a trick, but to see it done two feet in front of you is still amazing (and baffling and fun). :)

I don't disbelieve in magic, but then, I don't know anything about real magic.
I do believe there are things in this world, this universe, that we don't understand, possibly things we can't perceive.
I think we haven't even scratched the surface of understanding our world.
I had a dream once that I talked to God. I asked him why he kept secrets from us. He kind of chuckled and said "I don't have secrets, but there are things you don't understand. Those are mysteries. Everything is right in front of you, but you have to learn to see it."
We only use a small portion of our brains, could there be sections of our brains that once turned on, might allow us to perceive things we've never dreamed of?
Maybe there is real magic in this world, and maybe we just can't wrap our heads around it.
Maybe someday we'll know.
