How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

  • Last night completed 3 days of post processing on 7 subjects from my spring wildflower field work last Sunday with excellent results with just one unprocessable.
  • Have also relearned and improved my Sony a6700 system complex process I will document today on a field cheat sheet.
  • Need to start HTML coding today adding 2025 directories to my complex non-commercial website.
  • Yesterday designed custom mechanical fixes for, then repaired issues on 2 large tripods.
  • Found a couple forgotten spare new Eureka Vacuum cleaner paper filters under my sink and was amazed how much more suction a new filter allowed versus just de-dusting and cleaning used filters.
  • Over a week, completed yesterday cleaning up and reorganizing 4 downstairs accumulated messes.
  • Last large cold storm with multi feet of snow this winter, will likely occur about Tahoe next Monday thru Wednesday so am preparing to be up in Tahoe as that wanes.
  • After 3+ years annoyingly wearing a waist brace to keep my lower guts in place, yesterday set up Kaiser Permanente left inguinal hernia surgery with a top surgeon scheduled for May 1.
  • Amazon ordered book "Understanding Living Systems..." is scheduled to arrive today that shows evolution is also affected over a lifetime by environments and experiences by varying gene expression versus just mating exchange genome/DNA and survival of fittest.

Well, the not-so-good news is that my husband had a rough night with his cold/flu. :(

The better news is that he did take the day off today, so he'll have today and tomorrow to rest and hopefully shake this cold before he goes back to work for three days.

I have noticed some symptoms within myself, but they are mild and I'm hoping my flu shot will save me.

I was just talking to husband and son about this yesterday. This tends to get a hold and run away with me. I get in a mindset of very restricted calories and spending too many of them on non-nutritious foods.

Was talking to my peeps about switching to a more healthful, nutrition-focused way of eating, which can be hard for me because I'm afraid of gaining weight. But my focus needs to be overall health.

I'm switching to low carb, low fat, high protein, fruits, veggies, etc. I'm afraid I'll gain weight with the switch and the hard truth is that I probably will. That happens when coming off a very restrictive diet. But it will settle and my health and weight will start to improve.

I'm 60 years old; my focus should be health.

Your message was another note from the universe for me. (Not that I meant make it about me. LOL!)

It must be difficult for you, watching your mom go through this and not being able to do much about it. -Or having your mom try to take your freaking plate away.
I did the calorie counting and working out to the point of passing out. Until my plantars gave out.

What do you like to eat and drink? Find a moderation not restriction.

I found hard boilded eggs (bring to a boil, cover, 7 minutes, ice water!) with hot sauce or mustards to be edible. Peeled, cubes, spiced up sweet potatoes airfried. Drained and marinated tofu cubed and airfried. Full fat yoghurt with Cowboy Candy/hot sauce/Tajini as dip. Sliced ready to eat raw vegetables. I am a nibbler.

Regular meals but one helping and heavy on the meat/vegetable or fruit, a slice of pound cake for desert but a quarter strip, a pretzel knot and cheese salame for happy hour and three glasses of wine through the evening. Week end mornings are still coffee and a donut or a cinnamon bun. Last night was pasta/vegetables/ham/cream and lots of rabbit food.

My "peep" lost 30 pounds in a year and two sizes. Full breakfast - cup of meat (no store bought sausage!), cut of vegetable in a tortilla or English muffin, orange juice, sliced fruit. Lunch about 2 cups meat and whatever, sliced fruit, cashews, pretzel knot with salame for late afternoon. Then Happy Hour, dinner.

I substitute whole milk and sour cream for sour cream, add a lot of shredded vegetables to soups and omletts, ... . Just make adjustments that work for us.

Lots of spices and herbs.

That is good news!

I do like an occasional HB egg and do the same thing with the hot sauce. :) Also like Egg Beaters, which are made with mostly egg whites.

I have cholesterol issues, IBS and Hashiomoto's so my eating requirements are a bit different. Full fat dairy is absolutely out for me and I find dairy alternatives, almond, soy, sometimes coconut, etc. more digestible.

I don't eat pork of any kind, ever and only rarely eat red meat. Don't drink alcohol.

For me it's going to be mostly poultry, fruit, veggies, (except cruciferous) some grains, etc.

Totally agree about moderation and portion control.

Who is your peep? Is that SO?

It sounded like you were refering to your men as your peeps. Yes, SO or as I refer to him as My Better Half.

Poultry has a lot of options. Please do not cringe - chicken breast skin on bone in. I cannot find it often. Grilled - eat the skin! Enjoy the crunch. Fruit grills and sautees nicely. I will add grilled apple wedges to today's pork chops. Peaches and pineapples grill/airfry nicely. A dab of honey and for me - salt/hot pepper.

Oh! LOL My peeps are my husband and adult son and, temporarily, adult daughter who is staying with us. :)

My adult daughter eats a lot of dairy and meat fats and it works for her weight-wise, but she is struggling with cholesterol issues at 42. I can't say if it's linked to her diet or not.

No chicken skin for me. I don't digest large amounts of fats well and don't enjoy eating them. ;)

Not the whole chicken:>) SO tends to offer me a bite or two of crunchies.

Cholestoerol can be genetic. She may want to check with her physician regarding her diet. SO is Cherokee and thus prone to cholesterol issues. His medication has been reduced since he accepted more vegetables and fruits.

More flowers planted, more monkey grass moved, more tired me.

DD and DGD will be home soon. DGD had a doc appt this morning, then they went to meet our friend for lunch on the other side of the city. I used to go, too, but meeting her for lunch is about a three-hour adventure, and I just get too tired. I sent my good wishes instead.

There is something universal, the addition of fruits and veggies being a good thing. -- Cept, I suppose, for people with Crohns maybe, but for most people.

When I am walking abreast with four dogs, then people get out of my way. 3 days ago, we had 95 degrees; today it's 25 degrees
cooler because ocean fog has been rolling in, giving us a very light drizzle.

Left: I am dog-sitting my grandson's Beagle Pup. Despite being overweight, she made it uphill though my 3 Boxers are more athletic.
Right: The joys and sorrows of dog ownership: my 95 pound guy has Gingival Hyperplasia and has a $1K surgery coming up.

Left: Yesterday I finished pruning these 3 Palm Trees. Not as good as a professional but saving about $1.8K by doing it myself.
Right: My older daughter has been living in China since 2012. In 24 hours she will fly home, leaving Hong Kong at 8:05 PM and arriving at Los Angeles the same day at 5:45 PM. What? Arriving earlier than leaving? OK, flying east you have the same day twice when crossing the International Date Line at 180 degree longitude above the Pacific Ocean. There is also an about 8 hour time difference. She will make final arrangements for graduate studies when coming home permanently in summer.
