Florida woman kills her dog at the airport so she could board without it

I really would appreciate any updates on this story... because want to know she got the worst punishment the courts coud give her
There was a man in Florida who abondoned a dog by tying the dog to a fence during a hurricane last year. The Florida Governor said that man would be charged to the fullest extent of the law, which I think is a maxium of 5 years in prison for animal abuse/cruelty. I am still waiting for that follow up story on the sentencing of that man. Although these stories make the large media news headlines, it seems the sentencing is always kept to the local news.

This is such a sad story. I will never understand how she could have so easily taken the life of her dog, a little dog that appeared to be well taken care of up until this incident.

So tragic in 21st century that so many people do not have any common sense (find out and do what was required to take her dog on the flight), problem solving skills ( find a humane solution after she failed to do what she needed to do to take the dog on the flight) and do not have any conscience (thinking killing the dog was rational and acceptable).

In Spain generally speaking, the Spanish don't care for their animals as we do.. and have them wandering alone in the neighbourhood or leave them tied up outside by a a chain

In the mountains where my daughter lived, in summer there was always forest fires on the opposite mountain.. and people would just leave their homes, leaving the animals still chained up or wandering alone.

My daughter & her partner had boarding kennels.. her partner was a dog trainer, so when the firefighters and helicopters were fighting the fires, he would join them and rescue as many animals as he could find

I saw that story on the news. I will follow up on it.
As far as the man that abandoned his dog by tying it to the fence during one of our worst hurricanes will be severely punished. The judge is an animal lover and she will definitely pursue this case.
Shortly after that bills against animal cruelty were introduced in Tallahassee. Our Governor, Ron de Santis also said at the time that hotels, motels, and resorts needed to accomodate animals during storms. (Something that had been a problem in the past as most of them did not accept animals)
The dog (named Trooper by his rescuer) was adopted by a wonderful family. Shortly after being rescued, he vomited a piece of rubber. The new owner took him to the vet and he needed surgery. The vet discovered that not only the dog had been abandoned but that he also had been fed garbage most of his life! He survived his surgery. After that episode, the dog was diagnosed with cancer. The vet took out mass cell tumors! The poor doggie is now cancer free, living with his new family and another doggie.

So happy to hear your daughter and her partner helped to rescue animals. I am forgiving of people letting their animals wander alone BUT to tie up an animal is inhumane. If they don't want to take the pet/animal with them, at least have the decency to cut them loose to fend for themselves in a disaster.
