The Worst Thing to Happen to Me Today

Holly, he sounds a lot like my H, whom I would classify as a Covert Narcissist. He is quiet, charming. Everyone says he’s the nicest guy they know, but they don’t live with him.
Like your X, nothing is ever his fault. In 37 years, I’ve never heard him say, “I’m sorry. “
Sounds like we're sharing the same guy.....

Very strange thing.. the only time he said he was sorry, in all of our marriage was when he came to collect his things about 9 months after he left... he said he was sorry...

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.so I said.. Sorry for what ? .. meaning what part of the whole horrible saga thing he put me through.. and he clammed up... ( I should have said what part ?)

That was all I was going to get.....:cautious:

Had the Ebay seller bring me a 'new ' chest of drawers.. which were far from new.. chipped legs on the drawers. and he wanted £200 for them. I refused to accept them, and he was really abusive....

I can't report him to ebay because this was an off ebay sale.. of cash.. and they frown upon that

I just posted in the new topic for MLB Opening Day how pissed off I am that, after subscribing to MLB TV in anticipation of this day, I couldn't watch my usual NYYankees; and when I tried a different team I got the message that I have to subscribe! I so despise talking to corporations or bureaucracies on the phone that I opted to email them; have yet to hear back. Grrr!

Some yappy dude called me today. He asked how I was feeling, I said fine. He said he was so glad I was feeling good. Then he asked if I ever had anything to do with Publisner's Clearinghouse.

I said no. Then he launched into a blather about how my name was drawn for a prize, in fact several prizes, one for a new car... I couldn't take it anymore and hung up laughing.

Oh that's right, this is supposed to be about the worst thing that happened. It was a little annoying though.

OMG! At least you got a laugh and that was worth a lot! And being the one to hang up is rewarding too! 😁

Condolences for all those lossed.

WE PURCHASED a new Vizio 55" today and I managed to trick it after downloading the user Manual.
It was bound and determined to charge me to use it. I have Internet, it is a smart TV but was determined
not to work unless I paid it with a CC. I tricked it to show the antenna and connections. Its behaving now.

Yesterday, actually. The IRS rejected my e-file for the second time. Their reason is that my AGI from 2023 is incorrect. But it is not. I checked and triple checked. I have no idea why that happened and am not likely to get any satisfaction from calling the IRS. The advice in such cases (found online) is to mail the tax return, which I really hate to do! The upside is that I'll likely just go ahead and mail my N.J. return as well. Minus the certified mail fees, mailing both will save me about $10. The other possible downside is that if I can't get my printer to work, I'll have to buy a new one. Glad I didn't wait until the last minute to do my taxes!

I am also doing tax declarations now. The way it works is the tax office sends us the declaration already filled in by using last year's declaration. If we agree with it we just sign it (either on paper or on-line) and send it back.

My problem is that I have two pensions, one local and another one from the US. That might not seem like a problem at all except that the sum of the American one is already taxed in the US before it is sent to me in Europe. In other words it is put into my bank account "netto" not "brutto". This confuses the local system and so they automatically put on local tax to what has already been taxed in the US. Do you know what I mean or are you getting a headache? Yeah, me too.

Luckily we have a free service to help out - sort of like an H&R Block (or whatever it’s called) but the service costs nothing. I went there yesterday and after about 15 minutes they fixed it and I left with a smile on my face. :) I have to do it every year ... but that's OK.

yes, it;s just heartbreaking to know he was doing this when I thought everything was fine.. that I had taken him to the airport and dropped him off, and picked him up when he returned.. not knowing that he was meeting up with someone to take them out to my house.. :cautious:
That has to be bringing up feelings of hurt and betrayal all over again.

Using the prior year's declaration (tax return) sounds like a nice, easy procedure Inept. But it would be hard to do that here because people's incomes are subject to change annually, even we seniors. Our Social Security amounts rarely stay the same, some have investment withdrawals that also impact annual incomes (whether increased, decreased or not taken at all). So if that is the case where you are, is there a way to change the figures without invalidating the declaration that you are sent?

I get 5 free federal e-files a year using H & R Block. My oldest grandson uses one of those. My son still prefers to take his to tax preparers. The State charges $21.27 (including tax) to e-file their returns using a credit card. The only other option shown is to have the fee taken out of one's refund, but the fee for that is significantly higher (ridiculously so). Yeah, what you're going through with being double taxes is dizzying, but I'm glad it was resolved in your favor.
