Do you feel like you HAVE to do something constructive every day?

"Old habits are hard to break", that is so true when leaving the career and working world behind after you retire.
I like to stay active and regularly participate in fitness classes and such. But, there are days when if it doesn't positively-absolutely-has-to-be done-today....then it won't...guilt free.

I have yet to try not to have dinner on the table by 8:30.

Yes, except for Sunday. On Sunday I go to church, then come home and watch tv, put a puzzle together, play an instrument, or take a nap. No major physical activities - I often need this to rest my body from other activities of the week.

Also, I will get out fishing if the weather is right and that will take much of the day. But last summer I did not hardly get out at all because of the huge siding project I was working on. No big projects this summer!

Nope. When I was working, I used to putter around the house on weekends doing everything I could to be productive while hubby sat on the couch watching TV. He used to tell me that "relaxing and recharging" were actually accomplishing something. I still never sat still. Now I've finally resigned myself to the fact that relaxation and less stress can prolong my life.

I go to the gym and do errands. When the taxes are due, I put all my energy into that. If I need to make a doctor's appointment or take my car in for service that is at the top of my list. Otherwise, I choose to relax and enjoy my retirement.
