What have you bought recently?

Another $58 bucks at the grocery store this morning. Seems like there is always something. Some of what I bought I didn't really need but it was on sale and since they were things I normally buy I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a little extra on hand. I do this as long as the things I'm getting aren't too perishable.

I also gave $5 bucks to a panhandler out in front of the store. It was a black dude. I usually try to give black people asking for money a few bucks. White people sometimes, but not as much. I figure us white people have a built in advantage in our society and therefore less of an excuse for being down and out. I guess you could call me a bit of a DEI giver.

I just ordered a used hardback book on eBay. $4.40. I've borrowed copies from the library numerous times over the past 10 years and decided it was time to actually own one. Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell Esselstyn. (It reminds me the importance of keeping to a Whole Food Plant Based diet.)

I donated nearly all my books over 20 years ago. Only have yearbooks, children's books, some cookbooks, a couple of Bibles and research books, plus some random others. Everything else went in a big cleanout. Don't regret the purge for a moment.

Just placed an online Walmart order because I can't find Thai basil plants anywhere nearby. My plant has gotten leggy and tired.

Also ordered some a twin pack of Italian sweet basil plants. Rounded out the order to meet the $35 minimum (avoiding the $6.99 service charge) with some groceries that I regularly order from them.

They're shipping the plants and and a couple of other items for free. The rest I'll pick up from the store tomorrow.

The amplified hearing aid head phones came today. They require a little adjustment to my speaking, I'll have to tone it down a little. I can hear somewhat better when someones speaks at normal range. My wife told me I was raising my voice to compensate for my lack of hearing. Anyway I'm just trying to get used to the new sounds. They were easy to setup, very few parts just a lot of wires. The clip to hold it on my pocket is tight, but should get more flexible as time goes on. I'll post more as I learn.

Amazon bought a new $21evolution/DNA science paper book and within the last 3 days have received 2 books as they mistakenly machine packaged and sent twice. Over a couple sessions so far as something technical, I purposely read slowly, and may read sections several times, am now on page 38 of 150.

More interestingly decided today to treat myself to some new backpacking hiking boots and will be purchasing the same model series I've worn for several years. As someone wearing all manner of boots in recreation over decades, have been most impressed with my current well worn boots.

Since prices online for a multi year in demand boot model like the Italian made grey Zamberlan 996 Vioz GTX will be about the same anywhere, I will be purchasing from a local REI instead of using Amazon, for $350 with taxes about $35 or less than I make from a CD every month. First need to see if I can apply the annual member 10% credit or wait for their Anniversary Sale in a 4 weeks. Not in any hurry as just wore my current comfy boots last Sunday rambling about rough lush spring wildflower terrain and carrying a very heavy pack with camera gear, got 16 wilderness days in over 4 trips last summer.

But yeah with space look NEW boots like this and some new Levi 505s, and some polyester long sleeve tops. I will add 25 feet of neon lime green glow in dark webbing to make a belt from. Then this summer a few outdoor camera self timer shots where the neon belt will complement with these space age look boots.

I bought a package of thongs, I'm decades behind in underwear styles. One of the reviews on Amazon was so funny because they posted a picture of the product in use, from the back (so basically a picture of a bare butt). Kind of hilarious.
Never tried them. I'm a high leg cut, low rise, bikini underwear gal. Have been for many decades.

Will be interested to learn what you think of thongs.

Just bought an Echo Dot, to replace my very old Alexa. Here is the thing....I am no tech expert, but over the years have learned to figure out how to set things up. NOPE...I actually had to call support to help me get the darn thing to sync with the internet. I could tell the guy was getting frustrated with my interruptions. As he kept having to say "No, Marie, listen to me." I did the thing where he synced in with my cell....so he said..look where I am drawing lines.
But I got it
