Simon & Garfunkel Song has anyone heard of it

I have known this song which was a Big hit since I was a teen.. I'm told on the entetainment thread.. that they ''guarantee'' most Americans will never heard of it.. Is this true..?.. I can hardly believe it if it is...

I never heard it, they only played the big popular hit songs on the radio here, and I never owned that album. It's okay, I generally like Simon and Garfunkel, lots of excellent songs together. This song I don't care for at all.

Whereas here... that song was played on the radio as much as Bridge over troubled water.. or Cecilia, or The Boxer.. all from the same album of ocurse

I don't recognize the words, which I often don't pay attention to, but the music and melody sure sound familiar. But sometimes artists will record a piece that becomes a hit, and then will record another using an almost identical pattern with new words.

But those two sure knew how to blend their voices together. Modern rock doesn't bother with that much anymore.,When Paul Simon went out on his own, he did some very good stuff, but his teamwork with Garfunkel was what brought him to the fore.

I had completely forgotten that song. It's not one that you heard frequently.

In 1967, I bought a bunch of LPs at a London flea market and brought them home to my them home to my boyfriend, who was a musician. One was clearly a demo album, in a poorly-printed thin cardboard sleeve in black-and-white, with the corner clipped off. It had a picture of a guy on it and it just said "Paul". On the back was just a list of the songs.

We played it and liked it but weren't wowed by it. Some time later, I heard a song on the radio and thought "that sounds familiar". It was one of the songs on the album.

Yep, I had a Paul Simon demo album, the kind that they sent out to radio stations back then. When the boyfriend and I broke up, he kept the albums I had brought him. I often wonder how much that album would be worth today.....maybe a lot, maybe not, but it sure would have been a collector's item. Wish I had it.

However it is a song on their best selling album of all time, ''Bridge over troubled water'' ...so I have no clue how people who say they were or are S&G fans could not know this song

That was a big hit here, not merely considered album filler. I remember it well - it got lots of radio play.

S & G had soooo many great songs. ❤️
I knew it...thanks for that SS... I just couldn't understand how a Huge hit like this could only have been a big Hit in the UK..given that S&G are American.. a Hugely popular duo.. AND the song was on their best selling Album of all time.. and that album was played a zillion times all over the world..

Thank goodness someone knows

I should add that while Paul Simon wrote pretty much all of their hits, and therefore the driving force behind the duo, I thought Art Garfunkle's voice brought something special to the songs.

Much prefer the sound of S & G music to Simon's alone.

yes me too... however I enjoy early Art songs..like Travelling boy... as well.... and I really love Paul Simons' solo songs..especially songs like Mother & child reunion.... and Diamonds on the soles of her shoes..etc

Just a few weeks ago...Paul ( albeit shaky voiced now )... age 83 duetting with Sabrina Carpenter to Homeward Bound

I had to laugh when he said he sang the song on Saturday night live in '76 and she said.. her parents weren't even born then,..... I was like this... because my Daughter was born in '76...which means she's older than Sabrina carpenters parents.. whaaaaT!
