It's interesting that you think this speculative video from someone many of us may not even know helps your point.

He expresses a lot of "I don't knows" around the 2.50 mark. Relocation of production takes about 2 years (6.48 or 6.50 mark). Then, he has more questions and uncertainty after the 8.48 mark.

Then, he starts speaking against tariffs at 13.33 mark, "except in phases" to allow manufacturers to have time to adapt to U.S. production. He's hopeful, around the 14.43 mark that there "may be a phased application of tariffs."

Around 15.20 mark, "he [in reference to the man in Washington] might" change his mind about how tariffs are applied. [But then again, he may not...]

Around 15.38 mark, he says, "It's just chaos right now." [At least he got that right.]

I was at the VA yesterday and was talking to someone in administration about the cuts and they thought the cuts were needed as far as lazy dead weight but the problem is the cut backs have removed a lot of great workers not so much lazy dead weight .

Whole depts have been cut which is great if the dead weight was cut but half the great workers were cut and half the dead weight not .

in other words it was not done correctly .

I spoke to administration due to a nasty receptionist who was pretty much nasty with everyone

I guess you have me there. It's so easy to forget how many only bow to the words of a handful of like-messaged authoritarian figures. Why should the opinions of a person with a lot of experience watching an industry be given any credence?

Being honest about the limits of what's known and what's speculation on possibilities must be strange to those bound up in MSM pronouncements of "fact."

I wasn't against the speaker. He had an humble spirit and expressed what appeared to be an honest viewpoint within the level of his automotive experience, but he was not even attempting to address the bigger picture of tariffs domestically and globally.

I worked for a company that was headquartered in California and therefore we followed California employment law. We had to reduce headcount twice while I worked there and there was really no decision to be made, last hired was first laid off. In both cases I lost excellent employees in favor of older deadwood that was never dealt with. I tried to make a case for keeping the better worker's but it went no where. Very frustrating and bad for business.

More or less what the administration lady told me because again dead weight was removed but as many great workers who were needed were removed .

She wanted changes but not like it has happened , she thought it would be done correctly not some cast net thrown over departments removing numbers and taking out those who should not be taken out .

Texas is an "at-will" employment state, where employers generally can terminate employees at any time and /or for any reason, as long as the termination isn't discriminatory or illegal. There is no requirement of last / first. Elsewhere, there may be state and local mandates about this.

gas and oil are tied to investor expectations for the economy.

the markets leveled off their drop for now so oil popped a bit in price .

think about the fact we were at 140 a barrel in 2007 and 61 bucks now , that is 18 years later despite inflation.

if gas gas not come down as much then that’s taxes , wages and costs of processing as well.

that 140 dollar barrel of oil in 2007 is 215.00 a barrel, today adjusted for inflation

If ya had 100 barrels of oil back at its height?
Why government cuts down pumps numbers.

But now ya have 500 barrels with Wind, Solar Nuke and Fusion powering the tank.
Plus boat loads of Compressed N.G. - LPG.

Then there is the new White Hydrogen coming on hard and fast. Basically, Green is Billionaires B.S.

Most likely more than 1000 18-wheeler tractors and drivers have been laid off this past month or so.

actually more often than not it’s oil that has driven inflation .

in the last few decades 10 out of 11 recessions occurred when we had very high oil prices effecting costs thru out the economy.

now the tariffs are likely to do that instead of oil

Why should any given commentator address the issue universally? A major thrust of the tariff binge is to reverse globalism and repatriate manufacturing jobs. Auto production is one key area.

He's since posted more. Honda is said to be moving production of the Civic for the US market from even plants in Japan to US manufacturing facilities now. For all we know they may even claw back the Canadian production of Civic sedans to the US as well, joining hatchback production.
