Although not a catholic by faith I always admired Pope Francis and the contributions he was able to make in modernizing the church and his particular attention and kindness to children

I, too, admire Pope Francis. He didn't live in the palatial "Papal Apartments", he had a room in a seminary. As Pope, he inched the Catholic Church closer to the 21 Century.

It was very touch and go before he got out of the hospital. I surprised when he did get 'better' or released that fast. Have to wonder if he told his doctors he wanted one last hurrah ie Easter with him and his drs knowing he was on limited time.

I imagine that he wanted to celebrate this holiest of Holy Days at "home" and then was able to let go.

I’m not Catholic but I greatly admired Pope Francis for speaking up about the many injustices in this world. I especially appreciate that on his last day on earth he told Vance that our administration needs more compassion and a better approach to immigration among other things. He definitely earned his heavenly wings.

If you look back historically they were born out of Roman manouverings for power and control of peoples whilst offering religious zeolots a chance to seize power and create the Roman Catholic Church. Its original name - Christ had been quoted as saying it was his church and it would be built in his name NOT Popes etc etc etc. The easily swayed Peter was allowed to become Bishop of Rome fool that he was!

You reach that level and status in life one has very strong beliefs and was able to act on many. . His dedication should be admired.

I'm not Catholic, but there are many things I've always admired about the Catholic church, it's timeless traditions and beautiful churches, and the good done by the Catholic hospitals and missions.

I particularly liked Pope Francis for his humility.
