And so...the "recession" begins

This is a little side note to ponder. My state (arizona) is about 48th in the nation for education. I guess that makes us ripe for the kind of factories that produce cheap mindless goods. Go team….

If you read some of the comments that people high up in this administration have said or written the intent is to make everyone poor. They actually stated that poor people are easier to control because they are spending all their time just trying to survive.
Where do you get this stuff? It sounds pretty strange, like something those idiots on The View would make up.

Arizona at 48. That doesn't seem right. Arizona is not poor state, right?
How could that be? The federal gov. employs 4,400 at a cost of 68 billion dollars. Lofty goals yet Arizona at 48 Hmm what went wrong?

Oh wait there is a change that is taking place. This as a commitment sounds better than what has been taking place at a cost of 68 billion.

U.S. Department of Education Initiates Reduction in Force
March 11, 2025
As part of the Department of Education’s final mission, the Department today initiated a reduction in force (RIF) impacting nearly 50% of the Department’s workforce. Impacted Department staff will be placed on administrative leave beginning Friday, March 21st.

“Today’s reduction in force reflects the Department of Education’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and ensuring that resources are directed where they matter most: to students, parents, and teachers,” said Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. “I appreciate the work of the dedicated public servants and their contributions to the Department. This is a significant step toward restoring the greatness of the United States education system.”

The Department of Education will continue to deliver on all statutory programs that fall under the agency’s purview, including formula funding, student loans, Pell Grants, funding for special needs students, and competitive grantmaking.

Like other actions "new" to how things were it remains to be seen how this shakes out. For me it seems like our government is being run like a business with accountability. How all the different actions will impact negatively or positively will take time to find out. Like businesses that reduce size hiring back is always an option.

But if this is happening at the Federal level, all states would be taking the dive. Maybe they are, but even so, 48 out of 50 would still be a relative comparison. I don't know why, I'm just surprised that Arizona would rank that low.

Ladies People jobs making stuff is gone in the USA. Trucking Co. are closing and selling laying off 1000's
Florida Trucking just Mt's the shelves. Madison, Illinois, 300 tractors, 250 drivers, near 2000 trailers gone.
1000's out of work nation wide because of costs of fuel and stuff. The belief closing shpping and major
retailers declaring bankruptcy and realignments.

There is no golden calf, no silver spoon, the future holds lots of Bad Luck. done is the thoughts.

actually more often than not it’s oil that has driven inflation .

in the last few decades 10 out of 11 recessions occurred when we had very high oil prices effecting costs thru out the economy.

now the tariffs are likely to do that instead of oil
Inflations are driven by government overspending and not keeping inside its spending limits / $$ tax intake.
Fuel costs go up due to demand. Or Gov says no more drilling, again the Governments B.S. Billionaires say
Raise, Raise, Raise Prices, pass it off as costs on the books. I will sign leases for my private jet and Yacht, rent
all my stuff. Breaking a lease is easy.

Let me ask us all a simple question? - "do we think that our representatives ; politcians whichever side are honest God fearing people who truly have the interests of all citizens at heart and work diligently never fiddling the books?? Some countries have strict checks and balances and an honest judiciary - others don't

China just decided to quit importing liquid natural gas from the US. That is aprox. 2 billion dollars worth. I wonder if that will help our economy?

This game we are playing with China is a doozy!
China can give as hard as it gets ; It doesn't always manage its own country that well ; remember the one child family - still reverberating. It drives hard bargains too - if USA is opposing from ideology wrong but if China is really attempting to screw USA financially then sure go screw them!

yeh - reminds me of your great film " A Few Good Men" and there was not to forget a lovely lady involved!!
