Internet connection down this morning, but was able to get Race Communications out to do actual repair to the fiber optic...yay!

...several hours later- discovered the roll-up garage door malfunctioning...observed broken spring. Have a garage door repair outfit coming tomorrow.

Hopefully nothing else breaks or blows up for a while.

What kind of repair to the fiber optic? We are finally getting fiber optic, cable internet, after 10 years of satellite. I was hoping it was fool proof! ;)

Please know where it is burried and call 811 every time you plan to stick a shovel in the ground. I had a contractor show me what he wanted to do, cut the fiber with a shovel. It took several days to get spliced and then replaced and the bill was painful to say the least.

The garage door tech come this morning, I thought I was getting a local repair outfit but this guy came all the way from L.A. Never trust google...

However, he was a pleasant young man, knew what he was doing, and installed/adjusted the new springs in about an hour and a half.
The cost: $1039, about twice what I had figured on. shrug.gif

@Nathan
I’m just guessing

Those torsion springs are not cheap - maybe $300/pr plus tax in your area?

That leaves $739 toward 90 minutes of labor and approximately three hours of travel time, depending how far from LA in the High Desert you live. Are you able to take the oxygen mask off yet?

After husband passed a year ago, it seemed like everything broke, including the two year old garage door opener. Thank goodness for my younger brother who took after our dad when it comes to fixing things. Lowes happened to have the right size Genie Door on sale for $200 and baby brother installed it for me. He saved me the labor cost which would have been at least another $200.

I lived in SoCal’s Low Desert area five years. Your repair bill reminds me why I was glad to get back East🤠🤠
