Why can't people follow simple rules?

Yesterday I was at the park (Leroy Haggen Memorial Park) enjoying the 70° day. When all of a sudden someone decides "I'll cheat to get a good spot" and enters through the exit disregarding warnings.

This wasn't the first time I had seen this. Last week, 2 cars lost all four tires. At $200 a pop (pun intended) it is a costly mistake.

Lol, stupid is as stupid does. I knew a Marshal's Dept. deputy that drove his Departmental vehicle into the Exit driveway that had the teeth, he wrecked the 2 front tires, so what does he do? He continues forward and destroys the 2 rear tires as well. He was not a bright boy.
 

We have a beautiful horticultural garden nearby, which put up spikes in the pedestrian entrance, as mobs of deer were coming in and gobbling up the plants. It deterred the deer, but the trouble was that it also deterred the people. They had to build a separate entrance for the people to come through, with a swinging gate.

Not exactly on subject, but this topic reminded me of it.

I believe it's called "Main Character Syndrome" these days. It's the idea that everything exists in your world, and you are the center of both attention and norms.

The thing is, we have to live around others, and at times we need to create some expectations. Expectations such as the fact that you shouldn't have to worry when exiting a parking lot that someone will be using the very same space for entering.

We each live on our own little cocoon, but some are aware the rules are there to help society work, and others don't give a damn and just want everyone else to get out of their way.
 
It is like VaughnJB said a case of they are the main person in their own world and no one else matters.

It is all over in public for every rule you can think of and sadly until they pay a price for new tires or whatever the consequence.
The general answer to this is play dumb ... they did not see the signs/ spikes etc. We can not fix stupid.

Sorry for late reply. They "could" have a gate, but they have had problems with people camping in the park, so this lets them exit if they accidently over stay.

IT also makes it clear this ain't no place to flop long term....

Annddd, just had another one learn the hard way. All four tires gone and they had every chance to use the regular entrance.....

As Forest Gump said "Stupid is as Stupid does"
