Maybe, maybe not. I have rescued a lot of adult cats and most have lived to a ripe old age w/o health problems. One small adult female was feral and pregnant, so I got her and she had kittens. (of course they all were spayed and neutered) I kept the mother and one kitten. Mom lived to be 24 yrs and the one I kept lived to 18 yrs without problems. My friend had been feeding Mom since she was a kitten so thats how I knew her age.I am a little concerned about an 8 year old cat. That's just about the time they start developing health problems.
