They are predicting a coffee shortage, also a rise in price. How long would your coffee last? If it has a long shelf life, I would stock up, if not for a year, at least a few months.
I have 4 Kirkland 3 lb. cans of decaf coffee stashed - the price continues to ratchet up. DH uses beans so can't stock those too long lest they spoil.
As soon as I break into a Costco bale of TP, I purchase another. My 3 bathrooms hold a combined total of about 45 rolls, so there's always plenty here.
Same with laundry detergent. When putting a new container into use, I add that to my shopping list. One container is good for 146 loads, so it probably lasts me 10 months. So I always have over a year's worth of laundry detergent on hand. Ditto other cleaning supplies.
Canned goods, dried beans/peas/pasta, oatmeal, PB, jelly, shelf-stable almond, soy, and oat milks, and other non-perishables? I've got more than enough to last at least 3 months. Like you, Diva, when Costco puts PB on sale, I stock up. Two double packs of chunky, two double packs of smooth. DH & I really like PB, as do our grandkids.
I haven't stocked up in fear of rising prices, but for the convenience of (almost) always having what I need on hand, and staying somewhat prepared for a shortage, pandemic, or local emergency like an EQ. We also have 30 gallons of stored drinking water, another 50 in the water heater, and a pool in the yard.
No sense in counting what's in the fridges/freezers because all could be inedible within a week.
Even if food and household supply prices double, DH & I will be fine as long as banks don't fail and SS continues on.
