I noticed that the last few medication orders I placed with Optum RX were not charged to my credit card after March 10th. Some of them are $28 for a 90 day supply, others just $5. At first I thought they were slow charging the card or that a mistake had been made, but Optum has never made errors in billing before. The State of N.J. employee/retiree health benefits program contracts with Optum. I never got an "official" notice from either that my medication prices would be reduced or free.
When I went to place my last order, a banner briefly appeared that read something like "Due to the Inflation (something or other) law, some of our medications may be at a reduced price." When I went into my order history, sure enough everything beyond March 10th was listed as $0. I also checked about my newest prescription (for which I got 30 days worth of samples first) and it showed that even local pharmacies where the drug is available, would fill the script for free.
