Reflections of My Life

Reflections of katlupe

Do you mean Blogger? That is what I have used since 2005. Before that I used Yahoo360 which is when blogs were just starting out.
Yes Blogger. I think the size on your screen changes because the page adjusts to whatever your page size is after. If you increase your font it should stay ok but it will be a touch smaller. I set my font size on large to get the size I want on the screen after.

I set it to the largest and in edit it looks huge but not so big on actual post. I think they try to keep it a certain size due to it being seen on phones.

Had my appointment with the nurse from the state. I guess my mind is pretty sharp. She gave me all those things to remember and no problem for me. She asked a lot of questions about my socializing...........I told her I come here! Don't need any other socializing. :)
That was a big step to have gotten behind you . That's great. 👍
And thanks for putting in a good word for us, here at SF.😊🥰😁😄

One thing I hate about this aging thing is that I can go to bed feeling fine and wake up with excruciating pain. To be honest, my shoulders have been giving me some trouble. To the point where it is painful to turn on the lamp behind my chair because it is on a tall bookcase. I don't know if it the way I slept or just from pushing the walker so much.

I need to do the laundry today so hoping I can at least handle that.

the funny thing you saying that this morning kat... is that I'm so used to wakening up IN pain that I hadn't realised until this morning when I got up, feeling the joys of the morning, and I thought why do I feel so sprightly this morning, and I realised for the first time in a long time, I woke up with NO pain...

You must have done something different to get rid of your pain. Mine is slowly getting better. I am able to type with both hands now. Coffee must have helped.

I didn't do anything different... and I don't expect it to last, I'll be delighted if it does... I'm thinking maybe the last 3 days of driving and being very active might have something to do with it... but then last night I was very sore from it all before I went to bed.... so I dunno... just thanking God for a pain free day....

kat,

Talk to Sonny about one of these touch lamp adapters to see if it might work with your lamp.

I’m not sure why the link has such a strange name.

Robot or human?

I’m with you on laundry detail!

I have two loads going.

Sitting on the stoop enjoying the early morning cool breeze.

Our shoulders are very complex --much more so that other joints I believe. I hope you don't try to turn on that difficult light from behind again. Maybe just go easy, apply heat or ice maybe, or massage with lotion. And maybe try not sleeping on your bad shoulder.
Hope you feel better soon!

Surprising today is that my shoulder pain was completely gone this morning. Did not do anything different.

The NYS visiting doctor came this morning for my appointment. Doctor? Did not act or look like one. Just a regular woman and all she did was ask questions (the same ones the nurse asked on Wednesday) and put my answers into her computer. Not even here an hour. Now I have to wait about 10 days for a letter from the state to tell me what I am qualified for. I have the feeling they would like me to need someone to help me with showering, dressing, cooking my meals...........no, I do not need those services. I told her cleaning and named off all the jobs I want done that I cannot do. So I shall see.

There are a lot of aides that work in this building for various people. So I think the applying for it is just all the NYS red tape. Once I get through this then I will have to find someone to hire.

Lots of activities going on here today. Our maintenance man did a thorough cleaning of the building. The lobby looks really nice! So does my hall.

@katlupe so do you need actual assistance or are you more in need of a housekeeper? i only ask cuz i'm not familiar with what all you can't do. i think it's great that you do as much as you do to tend to your own needs. that's amazing. i hate when they send people to your house to basically talk to you and look around. makes me uncomfortable.

I need a housekeeper but just for the chores I cannot do. Like cleaning the outside of the toilet and down on the floor around it. Cleaning the shower (it is all tiled way up the wall). Vacuuming, mopping the kitchen & bathroom, doing laundry when I am unable to do it, cleaning the refrigerator (interior) and on top of it. Dusting the dressers and television (too high for me to reach). I think having someone do all that would be a big help for me. My legs and feet have become quite painful and I need to keep them up as much as possible.

Do you think she has a doctorate in something like social work, etc.
I do not know. The office called her a doctor and the first one that came on Wednesday a nurse. When UHC sent a nurse here for a home visit she checked my blood pressure, pulse, weight, listened to my heart and checked my lungs. Completely different. These did not. It is okay I am only doing this to get a aide to help me with keeping my apartment clean. I can't do it all anymore.

Today I have a bunch of chores to do in my apartment. Then tomorrow will do my laundry for sure. I like doing it on Sundays because there is not many people around. Then going to finish my blog post that I have not looked at for a couple of days.

There is a family of wild rabbits living under the shed in the backyard. A mother and her baby have been seen. Not sure how many are there. I have been watching for her. Plus the white bird is back!

I will be making more Keto Chow (for ice cream) this morning. I want to be sure to have it in the freezer since the hot weather is here. It cools me off so fast that I usually have to shut the air conditioner off for awhile.

This week-end is Dairy Days at the fairgrounds. People here go to it every year. They get all kinds of freebies that is dairy related. So it maybe quiet here today too. Cows & goats, etc. I never go to it. For one thing it is too far for me to walk to it. The other thing it is too hot for me to be comfortable outside for very long. It is not like being out in the country on a hot day.

Well, I just had a work-out! It has exhausted me! What did I do, you ask? Put on a pair of compression tights. Not an easy job when you can not get down to the floor to adjust and pull them up in place. I used my sock helper to get the feet on and to make sure the toes and heel were in the correct place. Took a couple of breaks during the process because I was getting hot.

Finally got it in place (making sure the crotch was in the right spot). You know what? It feels great now! I needed that compression but just cannot wear the stockings due to it leaving an impression in my leg. Plus my knees were hurting from it as well. So this will be hot and will be a job to put on but for now that is what I have to live with. I cannot stand the pain from the Lymphedema and compression is the thing that helps it.

This is the one I bought.
