It is the name I have used all over the internet. My first name and last name combined.
If I used my childhood nickname, given to me by my uncle, it would be "Dugout Doug".What a cool headed little guy you were, Beezer!
We should all use our childhood nicknames. I got my family nickname because my older brother watched "cops and robbers" shows all the time and then acted them out with me as one of the characters. My dad heard him calling me "Punk." He thought it was a funny name for a fluffy little girly-girl and I remained Punk or Punkie forever.
I chose a name that I've never used before. Being an expatriate Kiwi I wanted to have a Kiwi name so I chose Rakaia, one of the great rivers near my part of NZ.It is the name I have used all over the internet. My first name and last name combined.
I did not know that was you!I joined in March 2018 and I used the name Keesha because it was the name of my schnoodle. PeppermintPatty came to me because I love peppermint and the cartoon character in Charlie Brown.
I ‘ve changed a lot.I did not know that was you!
Can you see out of both eyes, Diva? I always assumed you were blind in one eye...My screen name was Jazzy147 on another forum almost two decades ago, so I liked your screen name immediately. Here's why I chose OneEyedDiva:
During glaucoma surgery, one eye at a time, my doctor surprised me by correcting my nearsightedness and astigmatism so that I could see 20/20. The surgeries were approximately a year apart. After the first one my brain couldn't process the major differences in vision of each eye. I tried removing the right lens of my glasses...didn't work. Since I had to start putting so many drops in my eyes, contacts weren't an option. Finally I substituted brown construction paper for the right eyeglass lens. My frames were tortoise shell colored..
My husband and I went to the mall one day and I could tell people were looking at me strangely as they approached. If I was younger I would've been mortified, but I thought it was kind of funny because I imagined that from a distance it probably looked like I only had one eye since the glasses frame and construction paper were similar to the color of my skin. Fancying myself a music diva, I chose the name OneEyedDiva.
Yes, I can see out of both eyes. The amazing thing is that I have a blind spot at the bottom of each eye. If I cover one eye at a time, it's noticeable, but not with both eyes open. In fact, that's how I discovered the first one back in 1989. After my surgeries I didn't have to wear glasses for several years. I'm wearing them again but so thankful that I still have my vision. Can you see out of both eyes, Diva? I always assumed you were blind in one eye...
When you first came here, I figured you were male because all the "Jules" I've known have been men. Jules being a shortened version of Julius. When I decide to sign up for a site, I’m always empty headed when they surprise me by asking for a user name. That day here I was reminiscing about my DD’s childhood art of me wearing ‘jules’. I thought that would be a good name because it was obviously a ladies’ name. Don’t know how many men I’ve run across since then whose name is Jules.
I’m just lucky I didn’t think of her nudie drawing of the family. Most of us were stick people; it still was very obvious which one was dad.
..and me it took me a long time before I realised Jules was femaleWhen you first signed came here, I figured you were male because all the "Jules" I've known have been men. Jules being a shortened version of Julius.
