Do you own a firearm?

The most frequent cause of gun deaths is SUICIDE. Thus, owning a gun makes one a candidate for SUICIDE! If one really wants to die, one could go to Switzerland, Vermont or Oregon and get doctor assisted SUICIDE!
First comes the decision to commit the act, then the means is chosen. whether gun, prescription overdose, natural gas inhalation, jumping from a structure, intentional car crash, overuse of alcohol, etc.

Sorry, not getting what you mean with this comment.
In your post #104, you mentioned that certain crime statistics for Australia posted earlier by someone in this thread were outdated by 9 years.

Recognizing that to be true, I looked to see if I could find more current information, and posted the most recent crime statistics on home break-ins that I could find for Australia in my post #105.

In your post #106, you replied by more or less restating much of the dialogue I had already seen in your posts #61, 75, 84, 85, and 100, so little or nothing new was presented.

Hence, I asked if you wanted a refund. It was not intended to be a serious question.

We have differing opinions on the issue of guns, self-protection, etc., and that's fine.

Uh sorry, that doesn't quite follow, logically. But to be sure, a firearm does present an easy, convenient, efficient & foolproof tool with which to commit suicide. Someone who is predisposed to committing suicide could be or become a gun owner, but just because someone owns a gun doesn't automatically make them a subset of suicide candidates.
I don’t know how fool proof it would be to shoot yourself. I’ve always been afraid to do that for fear that I would fail but be in miserable shape after shooting and would have to live with pain and suffering.
Seems odd that we don’t hear about that happening and yet you hear where people have been shot by others for and had to live a miserable life.
I’m sure there are less painful and more efficient ways to commit suicide but I haven’t really tried to find out.

Personally, if I were inclined to take my own life I would do a massive overdose of Fentanyl, or whatever comparable substance was available on the street.

I've never owned a gun and, so far, I've never needed to own one either. I think ALL guns should be banned for everyone other than for law enforcement personnel and the military. Banning them would SAVE hundreds of lives every year.

I don't foresee a remote possibility of that happening.

So, only bad guys have guns! Seems a bit unfair...
Not at all. Our police are armed. People who have a good reason to own a gun can apply for a gun licence but there are certain requirements that must be met including safe storage of the gun and separate safe storage of the ammunition. Guns must be registered.

Responsible laws for responsible people.

I got on a big social media site where people were asking all kinds of how to questions about firearms.
I was using my real name on that forum.
I realize that I was telling everyone in the world that I own firearms.
My address is very easy to find by just searching by my name.
I quit that forum and within a week all of my information was deleted.

I had no idea what it was intended t o say.

and yes I did because you were still missing point about vast number of break ins here being when occupants are not home - yet you kept posting them as if they were relevant t o scenario of self defence.
