Reflections of My Life

I walked outside to the dumpster this morning. Had to because I hadn't taken the garbage out since Friday. So it was good for me to get out of my apartment. Talked to a lady out there who lives upstairs. Then on my way back stopped in to see my friend who lives downstairs. Another neighbor was there and we talked for a bit. Then came up and here and took care of my bunny boy.

It is really hot in the halls. My hands were sweaty just from being out there. My friend downstairs does not have air conditioning and just leaves her door open. Too hot for me. She could have air conditioning just does not want it. Too bad the management here does not run the ac in the building now. You would think with senior citizens and disabled people they would.

Had my Keto ice cream.......pumpkin! It was good and cold. Just what I needed.

I had to use up my UHC benefits card before the 1st. Had almost a hundred dollars left on it. So I ordered groceries that I didn't necessarily need right now but can put in the freezer. Still can't use my new debit card there (Walmart) yet. They just won't let it go through. I will call customer service on the card this morning. See what the story is.

Other than that, I am not planning on much for today. I like to stay quiet when it is hot. I figure I have two more months of this heat. So will watch videos and color.

The elevator repairman is here this morning. I can hear him working on the elevator. Does not sound good compared to other times he has worked on it. Of course when the maintenance man put a notice on it that it was out of order people kept using it anyway. Saying they were not scared of it. The lady upstairs (over my apartment) came down to see me yesterday and she was using the stairs. She had it slam hard a few times on her trip going up to the 3rd floor! She said she was scared to use it. I would not use it either.

Today my water delivery is supposed to come. I will not be able to meet him at the ramp door so will see if I can ask the maintenance man to let him in. Unless the elevator is fixed by then.

Yes living here with very low rent is nice. My apartment is nice and spacious for a building of this type (subsidized housing). But there are trade offs for it. The elevator is one. The management is another as they control the building. They will not turn on any air in the halls and public rooms even in extreme heat. They will not fix the driveway and parking lot. They will not replace the roof (which is needed). Nor replace the washing machines and dryers which is needed (my opinion).

Raining this morning but might have stopped now. So I will see what kind of day this turns into. No sense getting upset or depressed over it. What will be will be and I can live with it.

Yesterday my friend, Emily, who lived across the hall passed away at the hospital. She was loved by everyone here. I will miss her a lot because she is one of the closest friends I have here. I expected it when they took her to the hospital last week but still when it happens it hurts.

Today is errand day so Sonny will be picking me up around one. Busy day will keep me from thinking too much. Though Sonny will be sad about Emily too. He liked to tease her and she liked that. They had become good friends too.

Time to get my day started.

I'm so sorry about Emily, sorry for your loss. Glad the elevator is working. Have a nice time out with Sonny, the weather is going to be wonderful!

Sorry about the loss of your friend Emily. May she rest in peace ❤️

I could not shop in Walmart today. Too crowded for me! I got Rabbit his stuff and a steak for myself and that was it. When we parked the car in the parking lot when we first got there, I saw a dog in the truck next to us. The window was down....maybe an inch from the top. It was hot. He looked hot. When we came out 45 minutes later he was still in the truck. Sonny checked to see if it was running and maybe the ac was on. Nope.

Sonny called the sheriff. Took 15 minutes for someone to get there. In fact, Sonny called back to see what was taking so long. Walmart is right near the sheriff department.........said the officer was coming from another area! Sonny said well if you take much longer I might have to break that window. The officer on the phone said, "It is not your property, sir." Finally he got there. He talked to Sonny, checked on the dog and then went in Walmart to find the owner. We left. Sonny said he was going to stop back by and check on his way back home.

I can't understand why someone takes their dog with them on a very hot day if they know they will be shopping.

You’d be lucky to have five minutes around here if there was a dog left in a car. Many a window has been smashed by concerned citizens. I have no idea if there are a repercussions. It’s illegal to leave an animal in a hot car so the fine for it might be really high.

We take our dog everywhere with us but we leave the air conditioner on high before we go. Usually I’m in te car with them but every once in a while I’ll go shopping as well. We are never gone for very long. I don’t know why people take their dogs shopping and leave them in the car. I hope the truck owner got heavily fined.

Emily sounded like a good friend.

That is what I thought! But not the way the sheriff's office handled it. He took his sweet old time and then when he got there did not act concerned at all. I felt he thought we were over reacting.

I don't know if he will get fined or not. The officer did not act like it was any big deal.
