If you were to spend $2,000 on clothing, where would you go to spend it?

Paris? :unsure: 🤭 Okay, back to reality here... I'm not terribly far from NYC (3 hours), so I'd head there to find an awesome shop. Probably pick up @Pepper for lunch and then go shopping. If you mean which particular store instead of location, then I have no idea.
 

I had to stop chuckling before i could respond. The most i ever spent for clothes at one time was like $250 for 2 sweater dresses, a couple of skirts and blouses and cape type coat. I'd saved the $$ during my first summer working after High School (1964). Hoping to rent an apt. But a potential landlord put the kebosh on that. So i decided i would get some basic wardrobe that was my taste in clothes. Got them from a boutique near my work and they lasted me many years.

I'd probably have to go a couple places to spend that much and get what i'd really want. Including a home improvement store for a cotton work jumpsuit, an insulated water resistant one and actual rubber boots (all for outdoor chores that take a big toll on jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts). But the rest would be from medium priced outlets, and i'd shop with an eye towards them lasting a long time.

Oh there's a brand I like that sells fabulous but expensive nightwear and bedding. I'd definitely spend some there! If I had anything over, I would check out some of the little independent shops to see what I could find. I'd probably buy some as gifts though, I already have too much stuff :ROFLMAO:
 
Probably Macy’s. My wife would most likely go to Dillard’s. We don’t buy much high end designer clothing anymore. My wife used to like Versace and Michael Kors. If we go to a high end wedding, she may still go to one of the designers to get a new dress, pocket book and shoes. She always worries about another woman wearing the same dress, or that’s the excuse I get.

By the way, why do women always buy a new pocketbook when they get a new pair of shoes?

i suppose some feel compelled by fashion industry to do so. This woman doesn't, hasn't ever. Even when i was young & dating i had only one everyday/work purse and one for 'going out'. And my 3rd husband had more shoes than i did.
 
Most likely it would be catalog/internet shopping. Every few years I look to replace my old field jacket with something that's civilian and water resistant, but has the same pocket space. I really need the pockets. Only once did I come close, it was over $800 then, so even with the 2k budget, I might not be able to find anything. Fun to think about it though.
 
I would spend it on a tailor for alterations. Its not hard to spend $2000.
I have some vintage coats that I havent got around to shortening.
Im tall so I buy full length and have them shortened to 3/4.
I have a few other things I havent got around too also.
Having things altered to fit you personally makes all the difference.

I have indulged in way too much recreational shopping in the past so Im pretty much full up.
I have been culling my hoard, So I need to pass on any new stuff. :D
 
The two places that immediately spring to mind are Chester and then the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.

Chester, an hour’s drive from me, is a historic city with beautiful shopping streets and plenty of clothing stores to browse, originally founded as a Roman town. Surrounded by a mix of Roman & Medieval walls, and the River Dee. (Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet would be a 15 minute additional drive.)

I looked in my closet last month, and discovered I had 2 pairs of white pants. I chastised myself for not recalling that I already had a pair when I bought the second one. I don't like owning more than I need. I like things to be uncluttered - even closets.

I'd have to spend the $2K on someone who actually needs clothes.
 
They closed Sears and Macy's at the nearest mall, so I'd probably go to Penney's and Dillard's. I'm picky about buying clothes, as for fit and color(s) but that doesn't mean they have to be expensive. I could find a lot for $2000, even with today's prices.
