I was watching one of those PBS specials this evening, a tribute to the music of Johnny Cash. Various stars from different eras performed their interpretations of his songs... Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Brandi Carlisle, and others. Cheryl Crowe was one.

PD, when you were in a band with Cheryl was her delivery shaded toward country music?

I was watching one of those PBS specials this evening, a tribute to the music of Johnny Cash. Various stars from different eras performed their interpretations of his songs... Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Brandi Carlisle, and others. Cheryl Crowe was one.

PD, when you were in a band with Cheryl was her delivery shaded toward country music?

She is from the bootheel of Missouri. They are country people. The southern rock phase hit them hard, but Sheryl was raised on a very wide variety of music. Her Dad was a good Sax player. Her Mother taught music ( I think ). But, yea, after being on the road withwith a flashy showband, and then playing with Sheryl, she had a definite country accident. After her "pop" run, shen wanted to get closer to her roots. She moved to Nashville, adopted 2 children, survived cancer, and Armstrong... She is a very hard worker at her technique, and she practices her tonals and accents now.

Once she left Missouri there was no turning back. From L.A. to multiple grammys is her journey. She knows tons of top musicians and they play on her new records. She is a fighter and she will go her own way. Whats that phrase "You can take the girl from the country, but you can never take the country from the girl.

She was a piano teacher near where I live before her 1st recording contract in the Rockwood School Dist.. It was
in all the papers here when her 1st recording came out.
