How are you today?

I am very happy today and all this last week. I have a appraised 1790 Irish spinning wheel and the other day a friend gifted me with a 1830 wheel. I also have spent the afternoons spinning wool on my new modern wheel.

Wen it is all spun up and the twist is set, I'll post some pics.
Awesome! I did spinning when I was younger. We had sheep and did the shearing, carding, and spinning,

Good morning. it's Saturday!

A cooler day today, overcast. The good news is that it is not as humid as it has been these last few days, not so much sneezing today and all the laundry has been washed, dried and put away.

Today, a relative may be discharged from hospital and, if so, I will pick up some treats and visit them at home. If not, I will pop into the hospital during visiting hours. That's it, all I have planned for today. Next week is going to be busy so, I wouldn't mind a lazy weekend.

Have a smashing Saturday everyone :)

Good hot summer morning. I'm glad the lawn got mowed yesterday because it's gonna be too blasted hot to do it today.

DD and I are gonna do something today, but I don't know what even though I wore my thinking cap to bed.

How about a visit to the farmer's market at the square? Or wandering around in our favorite antique shop? It happens that the antique shop is also at the square.

Maybe another turn past the Clarence shelves at the garden center just in case somebody there yesterday rotated the wilting stock from the store to Clarence?

For sure there will be a stop at Aldi on the way home to pick up gelato. Must. Have. Gelato.

We have been at Salisbury for most of the afternoon, home now but not for long. A trip to the supermarket for a few provisions and tomorrow's picnic lunch, (the Salisbury link will explain,) then we are dining out with a crowd of good friends, after which, we are all off to Canford Heath Community Centre for what looks like a classic jive dance event. We shall have to sit it out though, the lady's heart ain't up to it, but just engaging with friends and getting out of the house is good therapy, and it puts a smile on her face.

I'm very happy today. Got the early bus into town and went to a shop to look for a picture for my wall. I'd seen one online that I liked but wanted to see it in person. When I got to there they only had one left and it was half price! I phoned my son and he said he'd come and collect me and the picture in about fifteen minutes. I quickly nipped into TKMaxx and bought a pair of Skechers which also had a extremely low price on them!

So... happy and still alive. Can't be bad.

Have resigned myself to dusting and vacuuming today. Blah.
The definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. It's just going to get all tracked up again and dusty.

Skip that part and just go for a walk.

We're home. Dang! It's hot out there. We didn't get to the antique shop because the heat got to us. On the way home, we made a pit stop at Aldi so I could get my gelato. Three 28oz cartons. Should last a couple of days;)

Hi fellow campers.... not been on for a few days and the last time here I forget about this thread (slaps wrist)
Only managed to read the last few posts, but glad to see everyone's tickety boo. Tis a good thread Paulina, I forget to thank you for starting it (y)

I've been hoovering funny little 'black dots', about the size of a pin head every day, even before I go to bed - they must be spiders(?), as they make webs. I'm such a wuss about spiders and their webs.
No sooner have I hoovered them up, more appear during the evening when I'm sat relaxing.

My daughter sent me some pictures for the wall, and whilst trying out where to site them, moving pictures already in situ, I discovered these pin head black dots thingies were even in the blooming (see, I didn't swear there?) picture frames - so they got hooverd up too. Ended up sticking duck tape around the back of the frames to keep any beasties out.

Can't understand where they come from, apart from the open window, but it's only in the lounge where they congrete. I'm a housework freak not a slut, so my sis reckons I'm too clean, so be a slut and see if they stay away o_O

Yayyy my rain dance worked. Finally. We are having a dry spell now. We don’t know how much water we have in our well so have started watering our garden from the natural spring run off that’s down the road from us. We are probably ok for water. We just want to make sure.

Eighteen months is a long drought . You must be so happy to be getting rain right now..I’m so happy for you.

Good morning.

Relative came home from hospital today. I think she is older than everyone here, she has outlived all her siblings and most of her friends. In recent years she has slowly become less alert and sociable which, of course, is inevitable but, recently, she does seem to be drifting away. So, today I plan to relax and tomorrow i will visit her again. I think all we can do for her now is to spend time with her and make sure she has plenty of her favourite chocolate :)

Anyway, on a happier note, it's 6.45 am, the sun is shining and I feel eager to start the day. I think we will either go to one of the Sunday markets or, perhaps just a walk and stop off somewhere for coffee and sit and watch the world go by.

Whatever you are doing today, I hope you have a good Sunday :)

It's morning and going to be a good day. The older I get the more I appreciate waking up ;).

The new job I've already been hired for? The website is still showing the thank-you-for-your-application thingie on the 5-point scale. Hm. No telling what the heck that's all about, but if I hear nothing again today, I'll keep the appointment with McD's tomorrow. Ugh.

DD and I are going to visit the Clarence shelves at the garden center in a little while. Guess I should get dressed? LOL

There was nothing on the Clarence shelves at the garden center except for old, dead plants that are annuals and that won't grow here in the cooler weather.

Of course, DD "had" to stop at Aldi because...well...because. I snatched up a package of meatballs that were marked down although the expiration date isn't until the 24th.

Then she insisted that we stop by Dollar Tree. The manager was there, and I asked him about any progress on my application. He said corporate is doing some kind of changeover in their computer systems, slowing down the hiring process and meaning that there will probably be no movement for 4-6 weeks:cry::cry: and that he has no way of telling whether they have done the background check but didn't think they have yet.

I am beyond dismayed. I told him that I have an interview tomorrow at McD's and asked if I should cancel it or keep it. He said keep it, and as soon as he's got the green light from corporate, he'll be in touch. I don't want to work at McD's. If they condescend to hire me, I'll take it because I am determined to have somewhere to go and something to do at least a couple of days a week. One way or another, I mean to have a job by September 1.

It's still a good day. The sun is out. I got out to the garden as soon as the sun was up and did some trimming and deadheading and stuff. The promised rain in the late afternoon/early evening hours for the past two days hasn't happened so I need to go back out and water. All we got was lots of thunder and lightning...sound and fury but nothing else. Drat.
