Are both Dollar Tree and McD's non-contract jobs - they just give you shifts when they need you rather than regular shifts? If they are then, perhaps take McD's if they offer and, if Dollar Tree gets in touch, take shifts there too. If Dollar Tree can offer you as many shifts as you are happy with and you like it better there, then just tell McD's you are no longer available. There was nothing on the Clarence shelves at the garden center except for old, dead plants that are annuals and that won't grow here in the cooler weather.
Of course, DD "had" to stop at Aldi because...well...because. I snatched up a package of meatballs that were marked down although the expiration date isn't until the 24th.
Then she insisted that we stop by Dollar Tree. The manager was there, and I asked him about any progress on my application. He said corporate is doing some kind of changeover in their computer systems, slowing down the hiring process and meaning that there will probably be no movement for 4-6 weeksand that he has no way of telling whether they have done the background check but didn't think they have yet.
I am beyond dismayed. I told him that I have an interview tomorrow at McD's and asked if I should cancel it or keep it. He said keep it, and as soon as he's got the green light from corporate, he'll be in touch. I don't want to work at McD's. If they condescend to hire me, I'll take it because I am determined to have somewhere to go and something to do at least a couple of days a week. One way or another, I mean to have a job by September 1.
It's still a good day. The sun is out. I got out to the garden as soon as the sun was up and did some trimming and deadheading and stuff. The promised rain in the late afternoon/early evening hours for the past two days hasn't happened so I need to go back out and water. All we got was lots of thunder and lightning...sound and fury but nothing else. Drat.
I assume, if it's no contract and then you are free to work in different places? I am not sure how it works tbh
