How are you today?

There was nothing on the Clarence shelves at the garden center except for old, dead plants that are annuals and that won't grow here in the cooler weather.

Of course, DD "had" to stop at Aldi because...well...because. I snatched up a package of meatballs that were marked down although the expiration date isn't until the 24th.

Then she insisted that we stop by Dollar Tree. The manager was there, and I asked him about any progress on my application. He said corporate is doing some kind of changeover in their computer systems, slowing down the hiring process and meaning that there will probably be no movement for 4-6 weeks:cry::cry: and that he has no way of telling whether they have done the background check but didn't think they have yet.

I am beyond dismayed. I told him that I have an interview tomorrow at McD's and asked if I should cancel it or keep it. He said keep it, and as soon as he's got the green light from corporate, he'll be in touch. I don't want to work at McD's. If they condescend to hire me, I'll take it because I am determined to have somewhere to go and something to do at least a couple of days a week. One way or another, I mean to have a job by September 1.

It's still a good day. The sun is out. I got out to the garden as soon as the sun was up and did some trimming and deadheading and stuff. The promised rain in the late afternoon/early evening hours for the past two days hasn't happened so I need to go back out and water. All we got was lots of thunder and lightning...sound and fury but nothing else. Drat.
Are both Dollar Tree and McD's non-contract jobs - they just give you shifts when they need you rather than regular shifts? If they are then, perhaps take McD's if they offer and, if Dollar Tree gets in touch, take shifts there too. If Dollar Tree can offer you as many shifts as you are happy with and you like it better there, then just tell McD's you are no longer available.

I assume, if it's no contract and then you are free to work in different places? I am not sure how it works tbh :D

They both schedule employees for when they're needed. Dollar Tree employees are pretty much reliable and show up when scheduled and work extra hours if asked.

There's no way on God's green earth I would or could work two jobs.

McDonald's employees are "scheduled" but aren't usually very reliable and are as likely to blow off a shift as turn up for one...at least that's the way it is here. Also at McD's, you're asked what hours/days you're available, but that doesn't mean a darned thing. They'll schedule employees for shifts at times/days when they've insisted that they absolutely cannot work, then expect the employee to find someone to fill that shift, something that should be the manager's job. And that's just one of the reasons that I don't want to work there. Another one of their favorite things to do is to retaliate by cutting an employee's hours if an employee so much as looks sideways. Ugh.

Add to that, the smelling-like-a-French-fry thing. And the ridiculous uniforms.

They probably won't offer me a job anyway. Seems that people look at me and see a frail old lady. A 98-lb weakling. Actually, I probably weigh 110-120 lbs, and as for "frail," oh, hell to the NO!

If hired at McD's, I will absolutely walk if Dollar Tree calls me.

The search continues.

Satisfied that I got the only room on the main level that needs vacuuming done. I broke down and did it yesterday. Don’t ever buy extra plush carpeting!

Also did some rearranging after 20 years. Moved the clock radio to the other side of the bed and set up my watch recharger on my side. I couldn’t read the clock but now still have it available for daytime when I have my glasses on.

Evenin' all, I remembered to look in!

Sunday is my usual day to clean, dust, hoover everywhere, bleachy bleacy b/room and kitchen- all that malarky. To my delight I didn't see any black dot thingies either, first time in days - woohoo!
I quite enjoy Sundays cleaning, uses up any excess energy I've hanging around.

I was hoping to settle down to watch for a good film this evening, but nothing on I want to watch.
Take care all :)

I’m good, the suns shining today that makes it better …much better …my poor bones are still thawing from our trip to Canbera ACT and the snow trip while there (Canbera is the Capitol city of Australia) it’s location isn’t a State as such …of Aust it’s ….Australian Capitol Territory

Ive just been outside doing a few little jobs inspired by @PeppermintPatty planting tomato / capsicums/ lettuce seeds for spring plantings in disposable drinking cups

Hopefully we will get a few more warmer days as I want to transplant cream clivia seedling I’ve grown from seed
in a mini plant tough, the garden centre told me last year if you plant seeds there’s no guarantee you will get yellowly/ Cream flowers in return …they did the same on got green/ cream striped very unusual stunning flowers

My plant I split up after flowering last year and sold a small one for $25

Ive got the orange ones as well , but they are more common ..pity they only flower once a year cause they make a nice show of colour

This is what Google said regarding humming birds @PeppermintPatty

No, hummingbirds are not native to Australia. They are exclusive to the Americas. While there are no true hummingbirds in Australia, some people might mistake a hummingbird hawk-moth for a hummingbird due to their similar appearance and behavior, such as the ability to hover and their long tongues.

Thanks Kadee. I saw that too. Oddly enough a member here has a thread about hawk moths. She even has her own photos. They are fascinating!

The photo up.thete .^^^.is the wide leaf orange one

The cream flowering clivia flowers closer to summer …it has a very dark green strap like leaf ..they grow outdoors …I know people who have them in front gardens and they look stunning when all in flower ..or a really full pot of them …when flowering looks stunning ..mine are all under semi shade….ill go take a photo of the yellow one I split up last summer ….no flowers coming just yet ……the one in front is the yellow flowering plant IMG_0709.jpeg

Still buzzing from yesterday, what a fabulous time we had, tiring but exhilerating. Today I have a doctor's appointment, after which I will call in at the vet's surgery for Ollie, our adopted cat's, pills. He pops two pills daily does our druggie cat. Blood thinners I think they are, expensive I can tell you, when you come back next time become a vet, you won't be poor.
It's a busy day, after the vet I need to call into our house selling, agent's office, after that I'm off to the garage, the old MG needs to have an indicator fixed. That will be a wait while it's repaired call, the semaphore arm, known as a trafficator, needs replacing. Had a text last Saturday to say the new one had arrived and to call in when passing by. Do you remember trafficators?

Chances are I will need to buy a few provisions, yesterday's picnic has depleted our supplies somewhat. We had chicken with our picnic salad yesterday, there was plenty of chicken left over after we had taken what we want, those leftovers will become a chicken curry this evening. I must check before going out, have we got rice to go with the curry?

Sitting here blurry eyed at 330am local time, been awake since
2am, breathing issue again, and noise out in the streets, kids I
think are enjoying the last week of freedom...got to get my
coffee....later......:coffee::coffee::coffee:
