I rode that hammer... Off a motorcycle over the guardrail, 140 Ft tumble down the rocky embankment.
Mine wasn't quite as bad. Motorcycling down the highway to folks house to fix there mower. At this intersection, cars are coming up to a stop sign on both sides of me. I'm watching the one on the right as he's not slowing down very quickly. Meanwhile, a 1 ton Dodge van hauling seniors is coming down the hill on the left. (and running the stop sign). I look over in time to see him hit me. Now, he's got me pinned between my bike and his bumper. I guess I was on the throttle because, as he's pushing me further under his van, all of a sudden, there's a lurch and me and the bike are sailing over the guard rail and down the embankment.
Couple of things happened after that.
One, the driver of the van suffered a heart attack, thinking he'd killed me.
Two, while waiting for help, a bystander came over to me, (laying in the grass admiring the blue sky) and wondered if he could do anything for me. Well, I told him that just up the hill about 1/4 mile was my house. Could he go there and tell the wife to call my folks and tell them I wasn't going to make it over there today.
Well, Mr. good Samaritan goes there and tells the wife, "your husband been in a wreck and tell his folks, he's not going to make it".
Now, That explains the pale faced wife who rushed to the accident scene, see's the ambulance, loading someone else, (the other driver), and figures I'm a goner. (gave her some gray hairs that day).
By now, I'm feeling a little better, just sore all over. So, I decline an ambulance ride and have the wife take me home. Next day, my wrist
and leg are all black and swollen and hurts like hell. So, off to the hospital for x-rays. Yep, bones are broken and Dr asks when did this happen. Yesterday I say. He say's, why didn't you come here then. My answer... didn't hurt yesterday.
Me, the yellow... van, the green... and of course, X marks the impacts.
