My late husband's cancer diagnoses, more like a bomb really, he was just 43 years old.

I came down like a hammer once. I was swept off a ridge and smacked onto the big rocks about 60ft below.

The day I found out my 1st wife was sleeping with the guy next door.

When my teenage daughter told me she was disappointed in me, and listed all the reasons. She was going through her "emo" phase, but that still hit hard.

When a state investigator informed me my liquor store owed the lottery $10,000. One of my employees had been playing without paying. It only took him about 4 months to get in that deep. Screwed me up big-time. I had to sell my store, lost my license, and was barred from getting another one for ~I forget how many~ years. Didn't matter; I was out.

The day my legs stopped taking requests.

thanks Mack... but if I was to tell you that was one of the most minor of the hammer dropping situations in my life comparitively.. you can understand why I wouldn't want necessarily to write about it all here...

In temporal order: 9/11 (my then-husband was in DC that day; we lived in the area, plus up until that point I was blissfully naive about terrorism); my mother's death, which was completely sudden and not expected; and when my husband left.

In 1993, my wife suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage. She was in the hospital or nursing home for 3 months, and had caregivers for another 3 months.
I was her caregiver after that until she passed away in 2005.
