Unfortunately, if you work for the Public Defender's Office, you may not have a choice. I'm not sure if they're allowed to pick-and-choose or if they have to defend who they are assigned.As an attorney, no one could pay me enough to represent this $%@&.
Exactly, but I worked for the PD office only a few years after coming home ftom working in Dallas. An attorney has to have a very valid reason for not accepting a case when working in the Public Defenders Office. Just stumbled onto this thread and this post and after reading your post, I immediately wondered, as an attorney in everyday practice, not working in the Public Defender’s office, what was your most difficult or challenging case? Did you ever represent a serial killer or a mass murderer? In this case, if I was given the case to defend this individual, I would refuse on the grounds that because I dislike these people so much that there is no way I would be able to give this person my upmost best effort. That’s the absolute truth.
I started out practicing Personal Injury for 9 years in Florida.
