Today we are going on our usual walk through the forest. The ban has been lifted. I’m really looking forward to our usual walk.

@Kadee, thanks for the photos and the info about Darwin. Earlier this year I got hooked on the excellent Australian series, A Place to Call Home. The plot included discussion and depictions of the Darwin bombing. Before watching that series, I'd never heard about AU having been bombed by Japan. Well, perhaps I'd heard it, but it didn't register.

Our three year old grandson will be spending the day with us and his 18 month old baby brother will be here tomorrow.

Let me say first of all South Aust is the dryest state in Aust ….we get a fairly low rainfall compared to parts of New South Wales/ Queensland and Darwin however allot of the WORLDS food is grown in SA , relying on rainfall only to grow cereals crops that are shipped all over the world from a port some 50 km from me

It can rain any time of the year , on average we get 8-10 inches a year …we get often get a thunderstorm or two during summer, we are now at the tail end of winter 🥶..it’s been freezing 🥶 this year , ( with only light ish rainfall, )

the alpine areas in NSW got more snow this year than they have in years ( hubby and I went in a snow trip last month ) to thread bow ..NSW
as I’d never seen snow …..I’ve called South Aust home since the early 1970’s …moved about 600 km from a very isolated area in NSW

Where I grew up in New South Wales…600 km from Where I live now , we got rain maybe once or twice a year …
So it was/ is very dry.

we don’t get snow here …it’s been known to have a have a light sprinkle in winter in the Adelaide hills ( cap city of SA ) but it melts before it hits the ground .

and most rainfall during colder months are usually light rains …we get excited if we get 1/4 inch

We’ve only recently got rain after 18 months of next to no rain …

So we dont have as such a thing as a rainy season in SA ..that’s reserved for the humid areas of Aust ..like Queensland / Darwin / some parts of N S W .

In SA we grow soft fruits and citrus but it has to be watered to irrigated from the river to grow , unlike tropical very humid states who grow bananas / mangos / sugar cane and the list gos on and on they get enough rain to grow crops ….and have a wet / cyclone season .
NSW also grows cotton but relies on / irrigation/ water pumped from a river water to do so ….

Boys and girls, I wanna tell you that this old girl is plumb wore out. After my gardening chores this morning, we did the rental truck/pick up sofa/bring it home/return truck thing. As long as we were already out, we decided to make a pass through the Kirkland store because we hadn't been in a while.

There wasn't anything there with my name on it, but DD found some sachets that she liked. They come in envelopes, and she puts one under a cushion on the sofa and a living room chair. It's not overpowering or anything, just a trace of scent that you only notice if it isn't there.

That sofa? Wow! It is nicer than nice and extremely well built. DD is thrilled to death because the last time she had anything so classy was before her kids were born. Since then, it's always been something very practical and second-hand. Can't call this one second-hand for sure because it's never been used. Nope. Never.

Anyway, after we got home, I rested a while before making a new recipe for a ravioli casserole with Italian sausage. My eyes were bigger than my belly because it was way too filling. Now I feel like there are 30 lbs of lead in my butt. Hope the feeling passes because there's gelato that wants to be consumed before bed. Right?

So what brand is the sofa? Love your sense of humor Georgiagranny! I still chuckle when you mentioned your boney butt. I have one too as I never knew things back there can so south as well.
 
Began my photograph organizing got through 3/4 of one box, now my head is pounding.
1 stack for each son, 1 for my sisters, 1 of ancestors no one will know, 1 stack of just me to split with the boys,
well, anyway I have 9 stacks going and this last 1/4 and another half box to go.
But, I got it rolling!
 
Dang. Reading articles on my home page and it's full of recipes. Gimme a break! I'm full right now and not interested. Well. Mostly not. I found a recipe for scones using Bisquick. Bisquick? I'm a little skeptical but going to try it. @Mizmo, we'll have blueberry scones Wednesday morning.

And then there's the recipe for cheeseburger soup. It promises that it tastes just like a cheeseburger. Hm. A liquid cheeseburger? I'm gonna try it, just not tonight.

We loved a place to call home…we’ve bought All the DVDs 📀 it’s …..it’s either 6 or 7 of them

it’s worth watching over and over again ….

If you ever see the movie …..Last cab to Darwin watch that ~ it shows allot of the inland dryer parts of Australia
and allot of is filmed where I grew up in New South Wales,…..isolated desert area .

Mind you if you’re sensitive about the subject of euthanasia…give it a miss …. @StarSong

That scone recipe sounds interesting Gg....lookin forward to one with my coffee.
The cheeseburger soup....not so much but would be interesting to hear your views on it if and when you make it.

Not that impressed @PeppermintPatty what we seen was ….hard ice cause we didn’t go on the skiing fields
been there …so I’ve ticked that off the list ….
There was no where to shelter as most shops in the village were closed ,so we spent 5 hours sheltering at the end of a ski gear hire place where there was a little sunshine.

Well luckily you rarely if ever get it. I , personally like the snow. It makes everything so pretty when it first falls.
 
Oh Ruthanne – you never know when grief is going to hit you – it comes in waves. In my opinion, you never get over it. In time, your sadness will shift to happy memories – just go at your own pace. I know there will come a day when you will feel better and I hope that comes soon. Sometimes it’s a long journey. In the meantime, please keep coming here and share whatever you need to. 🤗

It's a fairly bright morning although, a little cloudy and, I think, there might be rain later. I am still not sure if I have a cold or hayfever! 🤧

I cannot believe that August is nearly over! Today we will be going for a walk, will probably have a browse around the flea market (unless it pours down!). Later on, I plan to do a little ironing and finish off something I have been making. All in all, quite a relaxing Sunday :)
