Reflections of My Life

I slept a little later than usual today. What I like is that it doesn't matter. That is why I don't like to make appointments or plans and the days I do are the hardest. Like tomorrow. Errand day. I was anxious for this month to begin. Not only for the cooler weather but another "no spend" month. And I added a "no sweeteners" to the month too. No keto ice cream or Zevia creamy root beer. I was looking forward to those a little too much. When you stop eating sugar it is easy to substitute sweeteners and then you don't get rid of that addiction. Already one day under the wire!

If you watch your pets and other critters you can see the change in the season in their eating habits. Rabbit goes into another molt (rabbits have many molts through out the year) but his appetite increases. As soon as he finishes his breakfast he is telling me he needs a second helping. My horses were like that too. They would eat like there was no tomorrow almost as soon as September hit.

Time to make another cup of coffee........

Today the new manager scheduled a meeting to get to know us in the community room at 9:30. I was not planning to go since it is my errand day and normally quite hectic (for me). But Sonny has an appointment with his spine doctor this morning and can't be here before 1. I just happen to have enough cash to give my son the amount of cash I give him on his payday (the 3rd). Then when I go with Sonny I can pay myself back from the money I gave Jeff. Now I am going to go to the meeting.

I didn't want Jeff to know I had any cash of my own on hand but now he knows. He is smarter than I think he is. He asked if Sonny hadn't been here how did I get his cash? I am not a good liar and said I saved it. Oh well, my secret is out. The trouble is when I save cash up and if he knows he will ask for it and tell me to take it out of his next check. I do that but try to keep it to small amounts.

I sometimes need cash and in my living situation (HUD) I cannot have a large amount of cash in my bank account. Saving for an emergency fund is not simple when you have a very low income. That UHC card helps due to being able to buy food with it. I want to be able to buy a new adjustable single bed after my bunny is gone. I will have room then. I am planning on having about $600. for it and getting it from our local furniture store. They will set it up when they deliver it so that is why I want to get it there plus it will be a very good quality.

We had our meeting with the manager. Not everyone came so a small gathering. She is really nice and wants to make it nice here. But there are too many people who do not get along. They are the problem. Two got into a fight over whether a dog was on a leash or not. Loud voices. I was out of there pretty quick after that. Now just waiting for Sonny to pick me up. He just called me and is in Binghamton and on his way right now.

Today should be a quiet day today. Especially after yesterday and all people voicing their opinions on what is wrong here. The only thing I really said was that we need consistent management. That we were left on our own most of the time. It felt like we were managing the building. I am hoping this manager will stick it out. She cleaned the community room and Randy, the maintenance man helped her after he saw was working on it a few days ago. They cleaned out the cupboards and the windows and all the furniture. She wants to see it being used and is encouraging more activities. Time will tell.

I got all of my son's bills and my own paid for the month. So now that is crossed off my list. Now on to the next.....

Do your units have fire escapes? Is that something you could ask for? Even if you can't use it, it would enable the firemen to get to you faster maybe.
And may save lives.
Or maybe fire escapes aren't used anymore?

No, just my window which is two floors up.

I don't think she can spend a lot of money on new things. She works for Brighton and they hold the purse strings. She mentioned that they (Brighton) was only concerned the apartments so they can be rented or stay rented. I think the other things, like the public rooms she and Randy are cleaning and decorating on their own. The district managers don't care about that.

:) The firemen do have ladders though and should be able to get to your window quickly.
I was taught, wherever I am, always to look for a second exit. Just in case of trouble.
I had my house painted recently and just learned that EVERY WINDOW is painted shut!
