Anyone joined a dating site what are your experiences?

I never dated anyone online. That seems foolish. I can’t even hold her hand. How can I get that first kiss? Or for that matter, how does she get me on her couch for that first cuddle and kiss session?

I have met women through online services. Some have been great, most are just not a good fit for me, and me for them. What else is new?
You Meet Online. Then you Meet in person if you click. Worked for me.

Iv joined them before ..I found using them just for chat is the way to go ....a photograph is not enough..when you meet a person ..they can look totally different .from the photo .spending weeks chatting to someone online before meeting is a no no for me...better off just chatting a couple of times then agree to meet ..iv met 2 people from dating sites .and it was just a one off meet ..onbboth occasions. Didn't fancy pursuing any further

Once upon a time I chatted with a woman that was an absolute 10 based on her photos. Even though the photos were only five years old, when I met her in person, she was very different. Also she had been married to a rich Jewish guy, hated him and his family, and intentionally walked away from the marriage without asking for a dime. That's mostly what she wanted to talk about.

I've never joined a dating site, I am always wary of misrepresentation. It's natural to behave your best online, but that doesn't expose the real person and all of their traits and flaws that might be a big deterrent for you.

That being said I am guilty of having several online relationships that ended up in disaster. 2 of them progressed to phone calls and then actual meet ups. No matter how close you become online, it is not reality.

One of these ladies was very nice and I hope she is faring well. The other was deceptive about things and had some mental issues.

We exchanged photos of course, but after meeting there was no physical attraction for me in either case. That pretty much ruined the romance. A woman doesn't have to be a classic beauty, but you have to be attracted to her smile, laugh, sense of humor, the way her eyes show her emotions, her mannerisms, her voice, ect.

I learned a hard lesson and won't go down that road again. It would be nice to have a close female friend to chat about everything with. But for me it could only go as far as close friends.

Well, that's just one perspective. It's always good to have many when contemplating something new or unknown. ;)

After my first divorce in 1988, I tried Matchmaker. It got a lot of advertising on local tv channels. So I made the trip to Indy to sign up. Six dates, set up by their expert matchmakers, for $550...

lol...

When these experts held our photos together, they must have been laughing themselves silly! I'm not being vain, just stating what was then the obvious.

Got stood up on the first two. Considering I live an hour from Indy, and the first one lived on the far east side...
Another one lived in an extremely bad neighborhood. "Nope!". I stood that one up.
Last one I actually met, closer to home. But oh my... pics would show this would not be a true match.

I've looked at many sites over the years. I dunno....
