Gentle posts for gentle folks

Good Morning, Kaila and Friend. πŸ€— :coffee:πŸ‚

It's raining here today, which is good as it's been a little hot and dry, lately. It will be a bit splashy on the walks, but that's okay. β˜”πŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί

Husband is working a mid-shift, so I'll get him back early, and boyfriend is not working today, which is nice.

It's a regular day for me and I'm thankful for that.

Wishing everyone here a lovely day.

Have you and Lucius recovered from the early morning grooming appointment?😁
And does he look happy and comfortable?🀩🐢

I enjoyed your use of word splashy as an adjective. 🀭
I guess that means I could use an adverb form. πŸ˜‰
You and Lucius walked splashily along.

Hello Kaila
( & friends. )
Good afternoon, wonderful and dear ones,

I got through my dentist appointment yesterday, and set up a treatment plan there, for the rest of 2025.
I feel good about making the progress on that. About as good as one could feel, about hated and expensive dental work.
πŸ˜ŠπŸ€¨πŸ™„β˜ΊοΈπŸ˜„πŸ˜

I noticed on the way home, that more trees than I'd expected, are suddenly turning red and yellow. 🀩

Beautiful autumn views... but seems way too early!

I reminded myself that it is actually mid September in New England. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜
Oh!
Right on time, I suppose. πŸ€πŸ˜†πŸ˜„πŸ˜…

I'm feeling a bit better today, than I was all week long, so I managed a few small manageable tasks and very brief walk outdoors. πŸ‘πŸ˜€

I hope to go back and reply to some of the post topics from the past few days, but we'll see how it goes. Eating and napping are coming soon.

I’m glad your dentist appointment was successful. I’m not fond of the dentist either.
I’m glad to read that you went for a walk outside. This is good news. πŸ₯• πŸ₯• πŸ₯• πŸ₯• πŸ₯•

We are busy doing all kinds of cannng.
We bought an electric pressure canner a week ago and my husband made a batch of cooked pork for the dogs. They get pork, beef, and sometimes turkey. In the past they’ve even gotten moose which they’ve liked.

Now we are making blueberry jam. We don’t have enough blueberries to make jam so today purchased 10 pounds of wild blueberries from Milan Farms , Nova Scotia.

Everyday there’s been something being canned. We are picking a bucket full of tomatoes everyday. We put them in trays to sit in the window cell to ripen in our sunroom.
We also picked a bunch of green tomatoes to make some chow chow which is like green tomato relish. It’s great on potatoes.

Green tomatoes for making relish.

So interesting, @PeppermintPatty
πŸ™‚

Those wild blueberries look scrumptious.
Years ago we used to pick them and make pies and cobbler.
Both wild ones, and high bush cultivated types.
We froze them in freezer bags. Yum .

For many years, We also grew vegetables at a community garden that I had helped to get started.
Loved frying the green tomatoes. 😁

I used to love teaching new gardeners.

We’ve always picked our own blueberries also. This is the first time we’ve purchased them. They were on sale for $14 for 5 pounds so my husband couldn’t resist.
Blueberry cobbler is delicious.

We have already made our first batch of green tomatoes / chow chow for this year. It’s a family specialty.

I bet you were a great teacher Kaila. I would welcome being taught by you at any point in time.

He is comfy and happy. :) Lucius is generally a happy pup. Thank you for asking after him, @Kaila. πŸ€—

Oh My Gosh! Can I just tell you, did Lucius and I ever walk splashily along!! When I took him out for first walk yesterday morning, it was absolutely pouring! I mean pouring!

It was pretty funny, actually, as there I was, getting soaked as my umbrella was only really protecting my head at that point, walking in the torrential rain, saying my freaking morning affirmations! :ROFLMAO: "Everything I need is within and around me." :ROFLMAO:

Poor Lucius, though; he hates the rain and he was soaked. I had to dry him off with towels when we got home. Which is not fun because Lucius thinks it's a game and tries to bite the towels. Well, I suppose it is fun for him. Silly puppy. 🐢

Nice of you to ask, Kaila. πŸ€—

Sorry to hear about what happened with your bird safe zone. :( Did you get some good rest in today?

Thank you, RR, about the dental. πŸ₯°

Last time we stocked up on salmon, we cut it into smaller portions so we could stretch it out to last longer. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜„
It seemed to work. 😁πŸ₯³

Otherwise we just cook it the same simple way. Easy and quick.
Just a simmer to steam it, plain.
We both need it to be extra soft .
Olive oil or light margarine is enough. It's fresh so it tastes great. πŸŸπŸŸπŸŸπŸ˜€

Yes, we let them all join in.
We don't have lots of woodpeckers, and they're not causing damage or a racket. πŸ˜„

Every few days or more, We get a couple of the cute little downy woodpecker type, males and females.
Occasionally we get the larger hairy woodpeckers, but rarely.
They all have amazing markings.

We get black- capped chickadee, here.
Are they common near you?
