No it doesnt. I can handle a tiny bit in some recipes but I dont want my stuff doused in it.

I love liver and onions but I haven’t had it for many years because my husband and kids don’t like the idea of it.
My grandmother taught me how to make it when my family would go on vacation. My grandmother stayed at home and I had to work, so I was at home with her.
While they were gone, we would eat all the things that they didn’t like and she taught me how to make them.

I like chicken livers too. Ive never been able to cook liver and onions or chicken livers properly. There used to be several diners that did them well but theyre closed now.

I like Braunsweiger too. I havent bought any in a while. I used to buy it all the time. I need to buy some and make some mock pate.

It's a funny thing, Braunschweiger had an important part in my last few days with my Mom. Her body was failing and we knew it was a matter of weeks, maybe only days, before she was gone. She announced one day that she wanted to take one last trip to her favorite places...Walmart, Dollar Tree, Panera Bread and a thrift shop. We knew better than to tell my sister because she'd disapprove.

So off to Panera Bread we went, where Mom had a few sips of her favorite soup. Then off to Dollar Tree, where she bought a few things she'd never have time to use, a thrift shop where I bought her a scarf and a purse she liked, and then to Walmart.

She saw a display of Braunschweiger and went into raptures. Said she hadn't had it in years and wanted some. So we bought some, went home and ate it on Saltines. She could only get one down and it made her a little sick, but she said it was SO worth it to taste that remnant of her childhood. Of course, my sister didn't approve but I think it was worth it.

Mom died just a few days later, peacefully. I remember how happy she was that day, eating that Braunschweiger.

The brand that was mentioned by WheatenLover (Morrell) is not available in my WalMart, only Jones that I posted. I'll be interested to hear if you found any or not.

I misunderstood, sorry. After the brand name, both yours and WheatenLover's said Braunschweiger, and that's what I picked up on, which must be a "kind" of Liverwurst, then Ike posted also.

Anyway, I did go to Walmart awhile ago to get a new vacuum cleaner, and looked. Found no liverwurst, asked a clerk who looked it up and said they no longer carry any liverwurst. Don't know why no one wants it anymore. There was a time it could be found anywhere.

I've tried to eat liver, even as late as my college years. I can't do it. It gives me a gag response. It's odd, because I usually like things that are not good for you, so I should like liver.

My late mother and I enjoyed eating fried liver and onions. When I was growing up, she prepared it for us a few times each year.

While she was alive, she would prepare it for us when my wife and I got together with them. Of course, she would also make something for my dad and wife also. Mom's been gone for a few years now and I have not had any liver and onions. My wife would never cook any for me and I really don't know how to cook it correctly, although I have tried a couple of times. So, I go without it. I did try is a few times over the years at restaurants that had it on the menu, it was not good...

I get it. I know people who won’t eat venison for the same reason. It’s called the “Bambi Effect.”

Forgot all about it so it's been several months since I've ask her to buy some for me and this thread got me to craving it.....just had a slice between two saltines and it's really good.

Thanks for letting me know. Selections at Walmart often vary by location. The store associate looked on her "machine" (the hand held gadget clerks carry) and found no liverwurst of any brand. I will check at Brookshire's - our main grocery store - next time I'm in there and see f they have liverwurst.
