An 'active shooter' opened fire at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Grand Blanc on Sunday morning, according to local police.

Grand Blanc Township Police Department said there were 'multiple victims and the shooter is down' at around 11.13am. It's unclear whether there are any fatalities.

The department also said the church was on fire in the aftermath of the shooting.
'There has been an active shooter at the church of Latter Day Saints on McCandlish Road,' police said in a statement.
'There are multiple victims and the shooter is down. There is NO threat to the public at this time. The church is actively on fire.
'For people on site, the reunification site is the pavilion to the north. Offsite reunification will be at Trillium theater at Holly and McCandlish.'
Grand Blanc is a small city on the outskirts of Flint, located around 60 miles northwest of central Detroit.

Writing on social media, several witnesses said at least four people had been killed, though police have not published an official death toll.

One witness said the church had been 'completely destroyed' by the blaze, and that they saw the shooter's truck parked in front of the building.

Sheriff Swanson of the Genesee County Sheriff's Office said 'the entire church is on fire' as he spoke in a live video from the scene.

'We do have multiple victims,' he added.

Police said just before 1pm that the fire had been 'contained'.

'We do not have names of victims at his time,' police said.

Therefore, estimates suggest around 40,000 gun deaths annually (including homicides, suicides, and accidents), totaling roughly 800,000 fatalities alone over 20 years, plus many more injuries.
I'm afraid a single candle will have to do.

Thomas Jacob Sanford, the suspect in Sunday morning’s mass shooting at a Michigan church, was an Iraq War veteran and outdoorsman, according to military records and social media posts.

Police say Sanford, 40, of Burton, Michigan, rammed his pickup truck into the front of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc before shooting at congregants with an assault rifle and, at some point, setting the building on fire. At least four people were killed and eight injured. Sanford died during an exchange of gunfire with police, authorities said.

Authorities have provided no motive for the attack.

And they probably never will because they shot him. I know they have to, if the man is still shooting or won't drop his weapon, but it's so frustrating to not know why. Going clear back to Jack Ruby shooting Oswald, I wanted to ask questions!

That’s a good assumption that I never thought about.

I was trying to figure out what caused this person to go off the rails and I kept coming up with zero, except another mentally ill person that owned a gun decided to make a lot of lives miserable.
