Multiple people have been shot at a Mormon church in Michigan.

I suspect revenge for Charlie Kirk was the motive as Charlie Kirk's killer was raised Mormon.
There are some totally conflicting reports on the killer's affiliations and mindset. The most likely of them would probably shock people. There are AI generated pictures that took a political sign picture from the killer's yard and manipulated it into the complete opposite political statement. Bottom line, no one knows yet.

I expect there will be more "revenge for Charlie Kirk" incidents. I will be very surprised if there are not. Especially on October 18th.

If guns were banned they would find other means to carry out their heinous acts…..example the man that killed a woman on the subway with a knife….or those that have used a vehicle to mow down a crowd of people.

This will end when the second coming happens.
That man on the subway killed one woman with his knife. The shooter in las Vegas killed 60 people with his AK rifle. Could he have done that with his knife, could he have assassinated a speaker from 100 feet away with his knife? Do you need a rifle to carve your Thanksgiving turkey? Do you need an assault weapon to get to work?

Jesus said: “Put your sword back into its sheath, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.”

According to NPR, the shooter rammed his truck through the front door.
There is a lot of mental illness in our country.
You're right, there is a lot of mental illness, but not only in your country.
I don't believe in God, but it seems in fact as if the Antichrist is coming.

This is why it is so important to maintain personal stocks of machine gun rounds, napalm and grenades to be able to stop bad guys and/or go out in a blaze of glory if you really get ticked off.[/sarcasm]
Right. That's what seems to be happening. It' not really mental illness in most cases. It's usually a "normal" person who works himself into a rage. Tyler Robinson seems to have been an average Republican until he fell in love with a trans person and was so hurt and angry over things said against trans people he snapped.

It probably seemed that way in Europe and Japan during and after WW2. History is replete with near misses - the antichrist is probably us. In general, not individually. All IMO, of course.

Sarcasm good.
I know guys who live in a rural area, who do stockpile guns, ammo, etc. to stop the bad guys. They are afraid that people from towns and cities will come to steal their food. Not quite sure how people would need to do that. I first met these guys in 2009, and if you didn't know that about them you would never guess it. Perfectly amiable and nice.

No chance... According to data from the Gun Violence Archive and other sources, there have been hundreds of thousands of gun violence victims (fatalities and injuries) in the US just since 2005.
Therefore, estimates suggest around 40,000 gun deaths annually (including homicides, suicides, and accidents), totaling roughly 800,000 fatalities alone over 20 years, plus many more injuries.
I'm afraid a single candle will have to do.

Alarming statistics but I thank you.

Yes, we shouldn't judge him by his appearance.

It's a sad day when churches have to arm themselves. I hear that in the church I attend that there are a couple of parishioners that sit in the back of the church armed should this happen at the church. I assume many other churches do also.

Seem to be seeing unclear or conflicting reports as to how the building caught fire. Did the truck crashing through the wall trip the fire or did the killer set the fire using one of his homemade bombs or other means?

IMO that’s kind of sad and out of place.

Bad things happen to good people every day.

IMO escalation of security measures in a place of worship only feeds into our fears and benefits the Boogeyman.

With estimates of 155-175 million practicing Christians in America the odds of something tragic like this happening is still extremely rare.

I don't know who they are. They have concealed weapons. I don't even know if I'm supposed to even know this. I was told this by someone who had knowledge of the situation. I don't go to church and even think about something happening. I could die in a car accident on the way to church. I have to disagree about the frequency; Church killings have gained in frequency over the last few years just like school killings has.

Both statements are true.

Society and people are sick and twisted. Something is drastically wrong and I fear there is no solution :(

I just don't understand killing innocent people.

If I was full of hatred and hell bent on going out in a blaze of violence, I would have a very specific list of people that deserved it ;)
